ऑस्ट्रेलिया में जीत को कोच शास्त्री ने बताया 1983 वर्ल्ड कप से भी बड़ा

ऑस्ट्रेलिया को उसी की जमीन पर टेस्ट सीरीज में 2-1 से मात देकर भारत ने इतिहास रच दिया. यकीनन इस जीत से टीम के कोच रवि शास्त्री भी काफी खुश हैं. प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में भी रवि शास्त्री की खुशी झलक कर बाहर आई और उन्होंने इस जीत को सबसे बड़ी जीत करार दिया. जब उनसे पूछा गया कि वह ऐतिहासिक जीत के बाद कैसा महसूस कर रहे हैं तो शास्त्री ने कहा, 'मैं आपको बताउंगा कि मैं इस जीत से कितना तृप्त हुआ हूं. यह जीत वर्ल्ड कप 1983 और वर्ल्ड चैंपियनशिप 1985 से भी बड़ी जीत है. क्योंकि टेस्ट क्रिकेट असली फॉर्मेट है.'

रवि शास्त्री ने अपने इस बयान से कपिल देव और देश को पहला वर्ल्ड कप जीताने वाली टीम को कमतर बता दिया. हालांकि वह जीत बेहद अहम औऱ बड़ी थी. साल 1983 में इंग्लैंड में हुए उस वर्ल्ड कप में कोई भी भारतीय टीम को जीत का दावेदार नहीं मान रहा था. हालंकि भारत ने खिताब जीतकर सबको चौंका दिया था. इसके साथ ही भारत में क्रिकेट के नए युग की शुरुआत हुई थी. शास्त्री ने कोहली की तारीफ जरूर की लेकिन कहीं ना कहीं अपने इस बयान से देश के कई महान कप्तानों की जीत का महत्तव कम करने की कोशिश की. ट्विटर पर भी लोग इससे नाराज दिखें.
