  • A thrilling contest finally comes to a close. India might still be leading the series 1-0, but they will know better than to take this tied result even remotely lightly and be wary of the threat the Windies possess. The visitors, will take heart from this and try to do the same next time too. The 3rd ODI takes place in Pune on 27th October, at 1330 local (0800 GMT). Do join in for that. In the meantime, you can switch tabs and catch all the action from the first T20I between Pakistan and Australia. Cheers!
  • India skipper and Man of the Match, Virat Kohli starts off by saying it was a great game of cricket and adds that the atmosphere was spectacular. Praises Windies for playing the way they did, especially the Hope-Hetmyer partnership. Is pleased with his personal milestones which he achieved through the game. Informs that he had a talk with his teammates and they agreed that they should be ready for any and all kinds of situations and embrace the challenge. Reckons that he thought Windies were in a strong position, but in the last 5-6 overs it was very much in the balance. States there were moments which could have gone either way, but they just have to take everything in their stride and move forward. On Ambati Rayudu, he mentions that they are looking at him as a serious contender for the no.4 spot and he's glad Ambati got some runs under his belt. Applauds Hope and Hetmyer as well and says they are superb talents.
  • Windies skipper, Jason Holder says it was a good game of cricket. Applauds young players like Hope and Hetmyer for coming so close, but is disappointed they couldn't get over the line. States he expects India to get par scores every time, as they are a good team. Reckons that they wanted to take it deep when he walked in and is pleased to see Hope be there right till the very end. Informs that he's happy with his batting line-up for crossing 300 in consecutive games and mentions there are a lot of positives to take. Rues some sloppiness in the field but says it can be obviously improved. On debutant Obed McCoy, he states he's a young lad and it was good to see him hold his nerve under pressure.
  • Shai Hope is seen talking to Murali Kartik. He says he is disappointed to not win. Mentions that he tried his best. Admits they lost wickets at crucial stages, especially Jason Holder's wicket. Reckons that the wicket was similar in both the innings and continues saying that it was easy to bat against the new ball and it got difficult as the game progressed. Ends by saying he is unhappy that they could not win.
  • Hope carried on after Hetmyer's dismissal, kept the scoreboard ticking with Jason Holder and were in the driver's seat. But the skipper's untimely run out did pose questions. It all went right down to the wire, and it took a scintillating boundary from Hope which saw the ending in a tie. Fitting that the centurion hit those last runs. Earlier in the day, India posted 321 on the board on the back of a scintillating Virat Kohli ton and a fluent fifty from Ambati Rayudu. It just wasn't enough to get the win.
  • A humdinger of a game. Chasing 322 on a tricky surface, the odds would have definitely been stacked in the hosts' favour, but Windies have done a tremendous job with the bat. It's a testament to their batting order that they've crossed 300 on consecutive occasion. The visitors lost a few early wickets but that mammoth 143-run stand between Hope and Hetmyer kept things every much in the balance, if not in Windies' favour throughout the game. The latter missed out on a ton, while the former eventually went on to remain unbeaten on 123.
  • The crowd in the stadium has gone silent as they still haven't been able to comprehend what's happened here. Mixed emotions in the middle of the park, a few smiles, some heads dropping down. No team's lost, but only cricket's the winner tonight.
  • 49.6FOUR! THE MATCH IS TIED! Oh wow. You never would have expected such a thing to happen. Dear me. Excellent stuff from Shai Hope. Full and wide outside off, Hope carves this square through point. Rayudu out in the deep moves to his right, dives, gets a hand to it but can't stop it from crossing the rope. Absolute scenes in Vizag.
  • 49.5Fuller length ball, Hope hits this through mid-wicket and comes back for the second. 5 needed off the final ball. Can Shai Hope do it? Or will Umesh Yadav hold him off?
  • Kemar Roach walks in next. Hope will be on strike though. 7 off 2 needed.
  • 49.4OUT! Ashley Nurse departs playing an audacious shot. He gets low as this ball comes in full outside off, takes it on the full and reverse scoops it towards third man. Rayudu runs in, settles himself under it and takes the catch.

Then, Hope decides to abort but Holder is halfway down the track and left hanging. Rayudu gives the ball to Chahal who comfortably takes the bails off. The Windies skipper walks back with his head down. He is disappointed.

  • 27.5Safe. He's back in. The googly on off and Hope doesn't pick it up. Gets beaten and loses his balance a bit. Dhoni takes the bails off seeing this and appeals. It's taken upstairs and replays show that Shai just about manages to get back inside the crease in time.

  • 17.2SIX! All the way! Hetmyer is on the charge here. He uses his feet and takes it on the full. Tonks it over the mid-wicket fence.
  • 17.1LOVELY! Unplayable! That pitched outside off and it has spun square, beating the outside edge of Shimron's bat as he tries to defend.
  • Drinks! So the game at the moment is evenly poised, maybe a little towards India. Windies have managed to keep up with the run rate but have lost three wickets. Their two best players against spin, Hetmyer and Hope are batting out there and the visitors would hope for them to continue and make a big partnership, whereas, India will look to take a few more quickly.

  • 15.5SIX! Juicy full toss offered by Kuldeep, Hetmyer slogs this hard over mid-wicket and manages to clear the rope for a maximum.
  • 15.4Comes forward to this loopy delivery and drives it to long off for one.
  • 15.3Edged and away! Hetmyer gives the charge as it comes slower through the air. Gets an edge which runs past the diving first slip fielder. Three runs result.

  • 13.4The googly outside off, it turns back in. Hetmyer first shapes himself to cut it but then adjusts and pushes it back to the bowler.

  • 12.5Finds the gap through the covers and gets to the other end.
  • 12.4SIX! It's gone the distance! Safe shot really. Slower through the air, fuller on off, Hope reaches forward and then launches it over long on for a biggie.
  • 12.3Saved a certain boundary there. Hetmyer drills this full ball to the covers where Rayudu dives to his left and makes a half-stop. Single taken.
  • 12.2Slower through the air, in line of the stumps, Hetmyer blocks from within the crease.
  • 12.1Tossed up ball on middle and leg, flicked away on the leg side for a single.
  • Shimron Hetmyer next in.
  • 11.6OUT! Samuels has to take the long walk back as that has clipped the top of off before going into Dhoni's gloves. Another beauty from Kuldeep, his second wicket in his second over. He has the last laugh. It is the googly and it is pitched around middle, Samuels plays inside the line, the turn beats his outside edge and it seems to have cleaned him up. Samuels though feels it is Dhoni's glove which has disturbed the stumps. He waits there, the umpires have a chat and then go upstairs. Replays show that Marlon has been clean bowled. He walks back with a forlorn look on his face and Windies are in trouble here. Also replays show, maybe Samuels could have played it on the front foot. He was done in by the pace on that one as it was bowled a touch quicker. 78/3
  • Has Samuels been knocked over? Samuels does not feel so but Dhoni is pretty confident. They are going upstairs to check. Let me tell you, when Dhoni is confident, most of the times the batsman has to take the long walk back.
  • 11.5FOUR! Samuels is dealing in boundaries here. It is tossed up outside off, Marlon drives it square on the off side and the ball races away. He is cashing in on every delivery which is offered width.
  • 11.4Again it is floated up on off, Samuels blocks it out.
  • 11.3On the stumps, Samuels defends it out.
  • 11.2BEAUTY! Another tossed up googly around off, Samuels tries to go over the bowler's head but is beaten comprehensively. Dhoni again shows lightning speed to take the bails off. Rohit Sharma is again excited but Dhoni is not interested.
  • 11.1The googly from outside off, Marlon tries to keep it out with a lunge but is beaten. Dhoni is quick to whip the bails off but no appeal from him. Rohit though is excited but the umpire shakes his head.

  • 9.4FOUR! Off the mark in style! Very full and outside off, Samuels times it through covers for a boundary.
  • Marlon Samuels strides out to the middle.
  • 9.3OUT! TIMBER! We did mention the real test begins now for the Windies and Hemraj has failed it. He has been knocked over by a brilliant googly. This is bowled slower through the air outside off, it pitches and comes back in. Hemraj fails to pick it, he tries to drive leaving a big gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaks through and hits the middle pole. Kuldeep is up and running. Excellent change of bowling. A much-needed wicket as Hemraj was looking really good out there.
  • 9.2EDGY FOUR! Tossed up on off, it turns away. Hemraj prods forward and tries to drive but the ball takes an outside edge, goes past the slip fielder and into the third man fence. However, there were encouraging signs for the bowler as the ball did turn.
  • 9.1Slower through the air on middle, CH pushes it back to the bowler.
  • Kuldeep Yadav is into the attack. The real test for the Windies begins now.
  • 8.6Another classy drive but it is to the fielder at covers. 60/1
  • 8.5Slightly shorter in length on off, the batter pushes it to point.
  • 8.4Back of a length on off, Hope pushes it to mid off.
  • 8.3FOUR! Nicely played once again! Slight width on offer, Hope opens the face of the bat and guides it fine on the off side. It is very fine and the ball races away to the fence. Boundaries are flowing here.

  • 7.3Another lovely shot! Short and on middle, CH pulls it through mid-wicket. A fielder in the deep means it is only a run.
  • 7.2FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! Another ball just ahead of a length, Hemraj lofts it over the bowler's head and into the fence. That shot just shows that the ball is coming onto the bat nicely. 50 up for Windies.
  • 7.1FOUR! A slight misfield and a boundary! Full and around off, maybe it was not a good ball with third man up. Hemraj opens the face of the bat and guides it towards short third man. The fielder there dives over the ball and a boundary results.
  • 6.6FOUR! Hope has started in excellent fashion here. Full and outside off, Shai lunges and strokes it through wide mid off for a boundary. So a wicket to begin the over and a boundary to end it. 42/1
  • 6.5On a length around off, kept out.
  • 6.4WOW! How stylish was that? That shot had the Caribbean swag. Shortish on off, Hope with one foot up in the air, flicks it by using his wrists brilliantly, through backward square leg. The fielder from fine leg runs to his left, dives and saves a couple for his side.
  • 6.3Again in the 5th stump channel. Hope tries to defend but gets an inside edge onto his pads.
  • 6.2Good delivery to bowl first up to the new batsman. In the corridor of uncertainty, Hope shoulders arms to it.
  • Shai Hope is the new man in.
  • 6.1OUT! A wicket falls. Powell departs and the crowd erupts in Vizag. The length from Shami is a bit on the shorter side around middle, Powell steps forward and tries to play the pick up shot across the line. He lifts it over mid-wicket but fails to generate enough timing or power behind his shot. Rishabh Pant in the deep makes no mistake. India draw first blood. Windies need 286 runs in 263 balls.
  • 5.6Pitches it up and on off, Chandrapaul drives it off his front foot but finds the mid off fielder. 36/0
  • 5.5Played to the point region by the batsman.
  • 5.4FOUR! Slapped! Yadav overdoes his length and bowls it short and wide outside off, Hemraj remains inside the crease and slams it over point for a cracking boundary.
  • 5.3FOUR! Easily done. Yadav errs in his line and bowls a length ball on the leg stump line. Hemraj picks it off his pads and hits it firmly to the fine leg fence for a boundary. Both the Indian bowlers so far have been the culprits of bowling too straight on the pads.
  • 5.2Good length delivery on middle and off, Powell remains back and forces it down to long on for a run.
  • 5.1Mishit! A full length ball angling away from the batsman, Hemraj tries to drive but fails to middle his shot. It finds the inner half of his willow and rolls wide of mid on. They cross for a run.
  • 4.6Shortish and down the leg side, helped along to long leg with a little pull shot. A single to end the over. 26/0
  • 4.5Shami takes the pace off this delivery and bowls it on the pads of the batsman. Hemraj clips it on the leg side but the square leg fielder is quick to the ball. Another dot.
  • 4.4A length ball on middle and off, Hemraj defends it back from the crease.
  • 4.3Good length delivery outside off, Powell pushes at it and gets it away off the outside half of his bat. Finds Kuldeep again who fumbles once more. They cross for a run.
  • 4.2Shami digs in a short ball and Powell jumps out of the crease to play the pull shot. Doesn't get enough meat on his shot and it goes past the square leg fielder. A couple taken.
  • 4.1A length ball angling away from the batsman, Powell plays inside the line and tries to run it down to third man. However, he finds the fielder standing inside the ring. Kuldeep fumbles and parries it towards Dhoni, who turns with the ball thinking that the batsmen are attempting a run. Nothing of that sort happening and MS just keeps the ball with him.
  • 3.6On the pads and it's helped through square leg for a run. 10 from the over, Windies pressing forward. 22/0

  • 3.3Streaky. The slip just moved out before this ball but it would not have carried anyway. Although, a run could have been stopped. Width on offer outside off, Hemraj throws his bat at it and gets it away off the bottom edge. It speeds past Dhoni to third man and they cross.
  • 3.2FOUR! This time Hemraj finds the gap. Yadav continues with his line on middle and serves it short. Hemraj whips it past the left side of the mid-wicket fielder for a boundary.
  • 3.1Good length ball on off, Hemraj helps it on the leg side but finds the mid-wicket fielder.
  • 2.6FOUR! Shami goes short again with his length, it's outside off and sitting up nicely for the batsman to play the pull shot. Powell rides the bounce and nails his shot over mid-wicket for a boundary. 12/0
  • 2.5Good length delivery just around off, Powell sticks inside the crease and blocks it to the off side.
  • 2.4Drops it short and on middle, Hemraj does well to pull it behind square leg and gets off strike with a single.
  • 2.3Another delivery which has been bowled wide outside off, flirting with the tramline, Chandrapaul leaves it.
  • 2.2Sharp pace. In the channel outside off, Hemraj shoulders arms.
  • 2.1A nicely timed drive this time. Full and outside off, Hemraj drives but finds the point fielder. We have seen quite a few good shots but it has found the fielders inside the ring. Becomes frustrating for the batsmen.
  • 1.6Play and a miss! Too full in length and wide outside off, Powell tries to squeeze it out but is beaten for pace, probably. Good start from Umesh. 7/0
  • 1.5Lands it full and outside off, it's driven off the front foot but once again Powell fails to pierce the off side field. Finds the cover fielder.
  • 1.4A length ball angling across the batsman outside off, Kieran keeps his weight on the back foot and uses his hands to reach out for the ball. Ends up tapping it down on the off side. Not in the gap. Straight towards point.
  • 1.3Pitches it full and on off, angling away, Powell with minimum footwork drives through the line but finds mid off.
  • Kieran Powell is changing his bat.

  • 1.1Starts with a shortish length ball on middle, Hemraj hits it across the line, through square leg and gets off strike.
  • Umesh Yadav to steam in from the other end with the second new ball. One slip stays...
  • 0.6Gets behind the line of the delivery and blocks it safely. End of the first over, a decent beginning by the visiting team. 6/0
  • 0.5A bumper, around leg, Powell tries his best to hook it across the line but fails to connect. One for the over, signals the square leg umpire.
  • 0.4Another good length delivery which is straighter in line. Powell turns it on the leg side but finds the fielder standing in front of square leg.
  • 0.3FOUR! First boundary of the Windies innings. The line is once again too straight by Shami. It's served on a length and Powell flicks it nicely through square leg for a boundary.
  • 0.2This one is angling down the leg side, Hemraj nudges it fine down the leg side for a run.
  • 0.1Windies are away first ball! A good length delivery on middle, Powell stays back and forces it wide of mid on and mid-wicket. Before both the fielders run towards the ball, they cross for a run.
  • Back for the run chase. The men concerned are back on the field. Chandrapaul Hemraj and Kieran Powell are the openers for Windies. Mohammed Shami to kick off proceedings with the first new ball. India attacking with a slip. Here we go...
