  • Right then! Not totally unexpected. New Zealand have bounced back to level the series. What can we expect in Thiruvananthapuram? Will it be India or the Kiwis? A Super Over perhaps? That would be thrilling. Both sides would be ruing their fielding effort in their respective losses and will aim to put their best foot forward in the decider. Hopefully, we get a cracker. The game is scheduled on Tuesday, 7th November, 2017 at 1900 local (1330 GMT). Adios! Take Care!
  • Any guesses who is the Man Of The Match? You can clap for yourself as a prize. COLIN MUNRO could have done nothing wrong tonight. He could have as well won a lottery had he applied for one. Cheekily admits that a few chances went his way but he enjoyed playing those big shots. Credits the planning (of the NZ Board) to stage the 'A' tour before this series and says that helped him to acclimatize to the conditions. On being asked his mantra, he says it does not matter whether he is chasing or batting first. Just keeps his head still and does not pre-meditate, which is the advice given to him by coach Craig McMillan.
  • Victorious Kiwi captain, KANE WILLIAMSON smiles and says that it was a contrasting performance from Delhi. He admits that to beat India one needs to be at his best and now their challenge is to replicate the same in the third T20I. Praises Munro for his century and also Guptill, for that brisk wonderful stand. Now, he praises Tom Bruce as well. Then he comes to the bowlers, does not praise every individual, but does praise them as a unit. On his two spinners doing well tonight, he says that one should always emulate from the strengths of the opposition and he has full faith and confidence in the experience of his two tweakers.
  • Indian skipper, VIRAT KOHLI praises the Kiwi batting and says that India were expecting 225-230 at one stage. Credits Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah for pulling things back to keep New Zealand under 200 but quickly admits that the batting was not good enough. Stresses that while chasing a big total, it is never enough for only one batsman to keep scoring and every batsman needs to chip in. Adds that he tried his best, praises Dhoni for his hits towards the end but eventually, it did not help. Does not want to look too much into the promotion of Hardik Pandya and says that such gambles sometimes work, sometimes they don't. He is confident that both batsmen are good enough to bat at any position. Does admit that the surface started to grip a bit after 13-14 overs once the ball got scuffed up but does not want to give any excuses and makes a straight statement - not good enough with the bat.
  • ISH SODHI says that it was a pretty fast wicket and jokes that the hundred was very special and Munro will remember it for the rest of his life. On his own bowling, he says that the ball got scuffed back a bit and he got plenty of assistance from the wicket. On the wrong 'un to dismiss Pandya, Sodhi says that he has been practicing it a lot in the nets and is just figuring out the right moment to bowl those. On being asked which ball he is more comfortable with - the leg spinner or the googly - Ish says that you just need to keep practicing. Feels that winning tonight is a massive plus for his side. The presentation is coming up...
  • Could India have won this? Ummm... perhaps. The outfield was quick, the ground was not that big and the pitch was a batting beauty with Virat Kohli in form. But time and again, we have observed that if the Indian openers fail, the team stutters. The move to promote Iyer to number 3 was applauded by everyone with the youngster racing to 20 from 12 balls. But then some pressure got the better of him and he threw it away. The rare flop of Hardik and the biggest surprise - Kohli and Dhoni struggling in the death overs. All these factors contributed to a loss. Perhaps the pitch slowed up towards the end. Perhaps Dhoni struggled. Either ways, Kohli got under pressure and New Zealand capitalized.
  • The Kiwi spinners outdid their Indian counterparts tonight. While Chahal and Axar went for 75 in 7 overs with a wicket, Sodhi and Santner had combined figures of 8-0-56-2. The Indian middle order could not get them away at all, in spite of having set batsmen in the middle. Another bowler worth mentioning is Adam Milne. A look at his figures and one would ask - 4-0-30-0 - big deal? Well, he conceded just 8 runs in his 2 overs in the Powerplay and just 6 of his third in the 15th over. That is the big deal.
  • It is often said that a good start is the key to great success. New Zealand struggled in Delhi, allowing the Indian openers to get a big stand. Tonight, they dismissed both of them in the space of 6 balls, with spearhead Trent Boult breathing fire. The other bowlers made use of that start and kept piling on the pressure and India were always behind the eight-ball. There was a bit of a chance for India during the Iyer-Kohli stand but once the former threw his wicket away, it went all downhill.
  • We will have a decider in Thiruvananthapuram. Excellent bowling from New Zealand. Not quite sure whether 196 was a big enough score to defend but they have certainly made it look like that. The win has not been an over or two where the game might have swung. It is by a massive 40 runs which shows the strength of their bowling unit.
  • 19.6Full on middle, pushed towards long on for one. That ends the match, with NEW ZEALAND WINNING BY 40 RUNS.
  • 19.5Oohh... nearly a five-for! Outside off, Bumrah pushes at it and gets an inside edge, which just misses the stumps en route towards fine leg! Just a single.
  • 19.4A yorker to start, right on middle, Bumrah digs it out towards point and sets off for a single but is sent back.
  • JASPRIT BUMRAH walks in at number 9, replacing Dhoni. 5-fer still on?
  • 19.3OUT! Mr. Butter Fingers takes it! Santner was the one to drop Dhoni in the previous over and it is Santner who denies MS his half century. A short ball, Dhoni looks to pull but gets a top edge which just spoons to square leg. Mitchell Santner does not have to move an inch and takes a sitter. A forgetful innings for Dhoni.
  • 19.2That is his fifty! Oops, not yet. Full and outside off. MS smashes it towards long off but DOES NOT TAKE the single.
  • 19.1SIX! Oh there is one more thing to look forward to. Can Dhoni hit six sixes and generate some interest in this game? A length ball, Dhoni swings it miles over mid-wicket! Just that it has come years too late.
  • Okay. Final over. What do we look for in this match? A possible Boult 5-fer?
  • 18.6A short ball, pulled through mid-wicket for a single to keep strike. 16 from the over but this can be considered an aberration. He went for 14 in his three overs before this and pretty much stifled India for runs. 148/6
  • 18.5FOUR! A full toss now, Dhoni whips it through square leg and gets a boundary.
  • 18.5WIDE. A slower ball, down the leg side, short in length, Dhoni looks to pull but misses.
  • 18.4On middle, pushes it towards long on for a couple.
  • 18.3No. That should end the match barring any miracles. It is a DROPPED catch for the statisticians. Dhoni swings it towards long off and Mitchell Santner comes charging in to his left. Slides and should have taken it but his butter fingers do not support him. Two runs taken.
  • 18.2A fine full ball outside off, MS swings hard and gets it off the inner half of the bat through widish mid on. Two runs taken. 59 needed from 10 balls. A six needed off every ball now. Possible?
  • 18.1FOUR! Short and outside off, slapped to the cover fence for a boundary. India need maximums.
  • ADAM MILNE to bowl out.
  • 17.6Full and outside off, driven towards long off for a run. 7 runs and a wicket from the over, Boult has figures of 3-0-26-3. 132/6
  • 17.5The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They pick up a single.
  • 17.4A fine yorker, on middle, well dug out.
  • BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR walks in at number 8, replacing Axar.
  • 17.3OUT! Soft dismissal. Jumps down the track, Boult bangs it in short, Axar looks to go over cover but can only spoon it straight to Kane Williamson at short cover. Tonight might have been a big ask, but have to say - Axar has disappointed with the bat in his comeback to the national squad.
  • 17.2FOUR! That will help. Down the leg side, Axar flicks it fine enough of the man at fine leg to make the crowd clap for a boundary. 67 more needed from 16 balls now.
  • 17.1A yorker to start, squeezed through third man for a single.
  • TRENT BOULT is back on. India need a big over.
  • 16.6Comes down the track and flicks it to deep square leg for a single. Just 3 from the over with a wicket. Santner finishes with figures of 4-0-31-1 and the two spinners have combined figures of 8-0-56-2. Terrific effort. 125/5
  • 16.5Down the leg side, Dhoni misses his flick and gets hit on the pads. Another dot.
  • 16.4Down the leg side, flicked towards square leg for a single.
  • AXAR PATEL walks in at number 7, replacing Kohli.
  • 16.3OUT! Stumped? Caught? It is a dismissal and that is what matters for New Zealand. Big moment in the game. Santner fires this onto the pads on seeing Kohli come down the track and the batsman looks to go inside out. He misses and the keeper collects the ball on the second attempt, after fumbling initially. He is overjoyed and appeals for the catch but then has the presence of mind to whip the bails off. Kohli knows he has edged it and does not even bother to get back. He departs for 65. The 56-run stand is broken but it consumed 44 balls. Did that consume the skipper? India now need 74 from 21 balls.
  • 16.2A short ball, pulled through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 16.1SAFE AS A HOUSE. Flighted wide outside off, Dhoni comes down the track but on realizing that he is beaten in the flight, lets it go and slides back into the crease. Phillips takes the bails off and appeals. The square leg umpire makes a belated call to go upstairs and replays confirm that Dhoni is in. What that appeal has done is - Perhaps saved the Kiwis a wide ball.
  • MITCHELL SANTNER is back on. And a stumping appeal! Is MS gone?
  • 15.6Works it through mid-wicket for a single. Excellent figures for Sodhi again tonight - 4-0-25-1! 122/4
  • 15.5SIX! Gets it away this time! Dhoni comes down the track, Sodhi fires it on the pads but MS is too good a batsman to miss twice in a row. Swings it over mid-wicket for a biggie! 'India need half a dozen more of these', says Harsha Bhogle on air. 50-run stand comes up as well.
  • 15.4Excellent bowling. Sees Dhoni jump down and dips this onto the batsman. MS misreads it and just swings wildly. Misses and wears it on the pads.
  • 15.3Short and outside off, punched towards sweeper cover for one. Kohli is frustrated, he realizes that was a scoring opportunity of a boundary.
  • 15.2Now Dhoni emulates Kohli and bunts it towards long on for a run.
  • 15.1Comes down the track and just chips it towards long off for a single.
  • 14.6Excellent yorker on middle, jabbed towards point for one. Just 6 from the over. 112/4
  • 14.5FOUR! CRISP! India need more of these. Full and outside off, Kohli comes down the track and drives it through extra cover. Kane Williamson chases it from long off but is beaten! 86 more needed from 31 balls now.
  • 14.4A bouncer to the captain now, Kohli is down the track and sways away from the line.
  • 14.3A short ball again, this time Dhoni manages to get it away, with a pull shot, albeit off a top edge to third man. Just a single.
  • 14.2Jumps down the track again, is cramped for room once more, with the bowler following him with a short ball, Dhoni looks to flick but misses and gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
  • 14.1Comes down the track, is cramped for room and mistimes his punch to a short ball towards mid off.
  • ADAM MILNE is back on.
  • 13.6Comes down the track and bunts this down to long on for one. When you have conceded 8 from the first two balls but finish with 9 from the over, you have got to acknowledge that it has been a top comeback. 106/4
  • 13.5Third dot in a row. Full and outside off, Dhoni looks to drive but misses, with the ball skewing off the outer half of the bat to cover.
  • 13.4Around middle and off, defended from the crease.
  • 13.3A quicker ball, shorter in length outside off, MS mistimes his punch back to Sodhi.
  • 13.2SIX! WHOOSH! That is why you should not miss chances, especially against MSD! Floated on middle, Dhani dances down the track and sends it swinging over long on!
  • 13.1GREAT EFFORT BUT A MISSED STUMPING! Is that the luck India needed? Excellent bowling from Sodhi. Slows this up beautifully outside off and beats Dhoni in the air as he jumps down the track. It is a victory for the bowler as MSD misses the ball but unfortunately for Sodhi, Glenn Phillips misses it too and the ball goes through towards the third man boundary. Colin Munro chases it down from short third man and dives near the ropes. The umpires check it upstairs to see whether it is a boundary and after numerous replays, are happy that those are two runs saved. Byes signalled. 98 more needed for 41 balls now.
  • ISH SODHI is back on. Does he go for a boundary on the very first ball? Referred upstairs...
  • 12.6Outside off, steered between short third man and backward point. The ball seems to beat the fielders but Martin Guptill dives to his left from the latter position to stop the ball cleanly and also throws it back without even looking at the destination. Ala Mohd. Azharuddin. Just a single. 97/4
  • 12.5The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. One run added to the total.
  • 12.4Banged in short, Virat miscues his heave, getting beaten by the change in pace and the ball travels to mid-wicket. Two runs taken.
  • 12.3FOUR! Wristwork! Kohli at his best. Full and outside off, Kohli comes forward and whips it, making full use of his wrists, getting it wide of long on and beating mid-wicket in the deep!
  • 12.2Wrists it through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 12.1Landed outside off, Kohli displays his cheekiest best, waits for the ball and at the last moment, dabs it to short third man for a quick single. 109 needed from 47 balls now.
  • 11.618TH T20I Fifty for Kohli! He needs to stay till the end to take his team past the line tonight. Comes down the track and pushes it through the covers for one. 87/4
  • 11.5FOUR! Terrific shot. Sees the flight and jumps down the track to take it on the half volley. Thumps it over the bowler down the ground for another boundary in that region.
  • 11.4Goes back and clips this shortish delivery through mid-wicket for one.
  • 11.3Played to the mid-wicket region by the batsman. One run added to the total.
  • 11.2An arm ball, down the leg side, Kohli goes back to flick but misses and is hit on the pads.
  • 11.1Comes down the track and works this through mid-wicket for a single.
  • MITCHELL SANTNER is back on. Has gone for 20 in his 2 overs.
  • 10.6FOUR! CLASSY! Full and straight, Kohli drives this right back to where it came from. Back past the bowler down the ground. Fab shot. Who says T20 is all about hitting powerfully? 118 more needed from 54 balls now. 79/4
  • 10.5Outside off, eased through the covers for a single.
  • 10.4A length ball on middle, holds off the surface, Dhoni, a bit surprised, jabs at it. The ball goes uppishly towards short mid-wicket
  • 10.3Excellent fielding! Short and outside off, Kohli punches it through point but Martin Guptill throws himself to his right to stop the ball. Just one.
  • 10.2Landed outside off, pushed wide of long off for a run.
  • 10.1On middle, tucked towards deep mid-wicket. Kohli takes the first run quickly and turns for the second but Dhoni rightly sends him back.
  • 9.6Drops it short on middle, a mistimed pull down to long on for a single. 4 runs and a wicket from the over! 71/4
  • 9.5The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 9.4Punches it through the off side for another single.
  • 9.3Fuller on off, driven towards long off for one.
  • 9.2The batsman has nudged the ball fine down the leg side. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • MS Dhoni is the new man in. The crowd is roaring high for him. Let's see if he can hit some biggies tonight.
  • 9.1OUT! Bowled! Sodhi dismisses Pandya yet again. He gets the better of him twice in as many games. Bowls an excellent googly on middle, Hardik doesn't pick it up at all. The ball skids, cramps him for room and sneaks under the bat to hit the stumps. Lovely from Sodhi, he is continuing from where he left off. India under pressure now.
  • 8.6Pandya punches it down to long to get off the mark in this series. 5 runs again and a wicket from Munro's first over. 67/3
  • 8.5The batsman drives this through the covers. They pick up a single.
  • Hardik Pandya walks in next. India need 132 from 68 balls. Remember, he was out for a duck in the last game.
  • 8.4OUT! Munro strikes! He can do nothing wrong today! What a day this man is having! Bowls a slower delivery outside off, Iyer looks to big down the ground. Gets it off the toe end of the bat and the ball lobs over the bowler. Munro keeps running backwards, keeps his eyes on the ball and then stretches his hands to take an excellent catch. The ball almost popped out of his hands. These catches are never easy. Iyer departs and a wicket at the right time for the Kiwis.
  • 8.3Length delivery outside off, Iyer looks to pull but misses it completely.
  • 8.2Back of a length outside off, flayed through covers for a single.
  • 8.1Length delivery outside off, Kohli just chips it over the in-field. Gets two.
  • Colin Munro is brought into the attack. He had an excellent outing with the bat, can he do it with the ball too?
  • 7.6Clips it through the leg side to keep strike. 3 from the first, 17 from this! 62/2
  • 7.5SIX! 50-run stand comes up in just 35 balls! Floated delivery around middle, Kohli dances down the track and lofts it with pure timing over the long on fence for a maximum.
  • 7.4Fuller on off, drilled through covers for one.
  • 7.3NOT OUT! An arm ball around middle and leg, Kohli tries to be cheeky here. He attempts for the reverse sweep but seems to have gotten an inside edge there. Santner keeps appealing but the rest of the fielders are caught napping. The batsmen run through for a single. Mitchell has a word with Williamson and takes the review. Snick shows no inside edge. Hawk Eye shows it's in line but would have missed the leg stump. NZ waste their review! A leg bye added to the total.
  • New Zealand have taken an LBW review against Kohli. Seems to be an inside edge there.
  • 7.2FOUR! Lovely shot! Floats it up outside off, Kohli dances down the track and lofts it inside out over cover. Neat and tidy!
  • 7.1FOUR! Sliced! Full toss on the stumps, Kohli comes down the track to drive but slices it between cover and point for a boundary.
  • 6.6Goes deep and whips it through mid-wicket for just a single. 5 from the over! Good one for NZ! 45/2

  • Spin from both ends now. Ish Sodhi is brought into the attack.
  • 5.6Tossed up outside off, eased down to long off for a single. Excellent from Santner, just 3 off it inside the Powerplay. 40/2
  • 5.5Quicker through the air on middle, clipped towards mid-wicket.
  • 5.4Drops it short on middle, middle pulled towards mid-wicket for a single.

  • 5.2Flatter on middle, defended off the back foot.
  • 5.1Floats it up around off, Kohli pushes it towards cover-point and calls for the single. The fielder throws it towards the keeper but Iyer is quick to get back in. Kohli goes past Dilshan in the all-time leading run scorer list in T20Is. He is currently second now!
  • Mitchell Santner is brought into the attack. We saw Chahal going for 17 in the Powerplay, will the Indians target the spinner here?
  • 4.6Punched off the back foot by the batsman. 37/2
  • 4.5Length delivery outside off, Iyer looks to go over the off side but gets beaten.
  • 4.4A bit of a hesitation! Back of a length outside off, Iyar taps it towards cover and sets off. Seeing Santner charging in from cover, Kohli sends Shreyas back. Needs to be careful here.

  • 4.2Shortish outside off, Kohli punches it off the back foot towards cover.
  • 4.1Milne drops it a bit short outside off, Iyer hops and with an angled bat places it towards third man. Using the pace on the ball.
  • Adam Milne is back!
  • 3.6FOUR! Down the track and bang! Slower delivery on middle, Kohli skips down the track and flat-bats it down the ground for a boundary to end the over. 14 off it! 35/2
  • 3.5Back of a length outside off, dabbed towards third man for one.
  • 3.4FOUR! Crashed it! Anything in the channel outside off, Iyer has decided to go after it. He cuts it square on the off side and it goes racing towards the fence.
  • 3.3Top edge! Short ball, rising off the deck. Kohli goes for the pull but gets a top edge on that one. No harm done as the ball falls safely towards square leg. Sodhi from short fine leg mops it up. A run taken.
  • 3.2Chance of a run out! Fuller in length outside off, Kohli chips it uppishly wide of cover. Williamson at mid off gets to the ball and has a shy at the bowler's end as Iyer dives to get back in. Could have been close had that it.
  • 3.1FOUR! Just a chip! Fuller in a length, a bit of curl inward, Kohli just chips it down the ground. All about timing as the ball goes over the man at mid on for a boundary.
  • 2.6FOUR! That's flayed! Iyer is in mood! A bit short and outside off, Shreyas once again cuts and cuts hard. Gets it past backward point for another boundary. 21/2
  • 2.5The batsman has punched the ball off the back foot.
  • 2.4Kohli is off the mark! Back of a length outside off, glided down to third man for one.
  • 2.3Angles it in on middle, Kohli comes down the track and looks to heave it across the line. Misses and is struck on the pads. They appeal but it was a bit too high.
  • 2.2Length ball on off, punched towards the off side for a single.
  • 2.1FOUR! Thrashed! Shortish and outside off, room on offer too. Iyer gets on top of the bounce and slaps it through point for a boundary to welcome the bowler.
  • The skipper, Virat Kohli walks out to bat next. There is a bowling change too. Colin de Grandhomme is brought into the attack.
  • 1.6OUT! Two wickets in the same over for Boult! What a start for the Kiwis! Both the Indian openers are sent packing early. Once again Boult slants it away on a length outside off, Sharma just tries to use the pace and guide it away. It goes towards the keeper and New Zealand put in a loud appeal. The umpire after thinking for a while raises his finger. There was certainly a deflection there and don't know why it took him time to rule it out. Rohit walks back dejected. 11/2
  • 1.5A loud shout for a caught behind! Slants it away on a length outside off, Sharma looks to dab it away but the ball moves off the pitch and nearly takes the outside edge to the keeper.
  • 1.4Stands tall and just runs it down to third man for a single.
  • 1.3FOUR! Off the mark in style! Boult serves it full and sprayed wider outside off, Iyer leans into it and drives it through point for a boundary to open his account.
  • Shreyas Iyer comes ahead of Kohli. He didn't get a chance to bat in the last game. He would be looking to make the most of this opportunity.
  • 1.2OUT! Bowled 'em! Trent Boult is up and running! Perfect start for the Kiwis this! He bowls a length delivery, angling in from around off. Dhawan tries to heave it across the line but misses and sees his middle stump pegged back. Superb from Trent and India have been rocked early.
  • 1.1He comes running in over the wicket and angles it in, skids a bit off the deck and hits Dhawan on the pads who tries flick.
  • Trent Boult to bowl from the other end. He was taken for aplenty in the last game. Can he redeem himself tonight?
  • 0.6A bit short on middle, Shikhar tucks it through mid-wicket and scampers through for a quick single to get off the mark. Good comeback from Milne after being hit for a boundary on the second ball of the over. 6/0
  • 0.5Back of a length delivery on middle, Dhawan hops and taps it back down the wicket.
  • A wide slip for Dhawan...
  • 0.4Length delivery, drifting on the pads, clipped behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • Slip comes out now...
  • 0.3Fuller and angling in again, Rohit prods forward in defense.
  • 0.2FOUR! Rohit Sharma is underway! Milne drops it short outside off, sits up at a good height too. Rohit stands tall and pulls it handsomely over mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • 0.1Milne starts off from over the wicket and angles it in on middle, Sharma clips it towards mid on. Dhawan comes down the track searching for a run but is sent back at the right time.
  • We are back for the run chase after a delay. Tighten your seat belts, folks. Going by the way the Indian openers batted in the last game, their side would be hoping for the same tonight as well. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan stride out to the middle. It will be Adam Milne to start off with the bowling proceedings. A slip in place...
