  • Right then! That bring us to the end of another double-header. Earlier in the day, Hyderabad once again managed to defend a total whereas now, Kolkata have gotten the better of Bangalore for the second time this season. Tomorrow we have a single game and it will be Dhoni's Chennai hosting Shreyas Iyer's Delhi in Pune. Do join us at 2000 IST (1430 GMT) for all the action. Until next time, cheers!
  • Man of the Match has been adjudged to Chris Lynn for his rollicking 62 which had 7 boundaries and a maximum in it. He took full toll of the reprieve he got when he was on 7 and batted through to win it for his side.
  • Well, Bangalore have just not arrived it seems. They now have lost back-to-back games in their own den and things are going all downhill for them. Virat Kohli is fighting a lone battle but cricket is a team sport and one man cannot win you games every time. It's hard to fathom what has struck them as they are failing again and again, something no team would like.
  • Next was Uthappa who gave him good support as he came in and started to slaughter from the word go. His quickfire 36 from 21 balls put Kolkata firmly in the driver's seat. After his dismissal, Rana came in but unfortunately was retired hurt. Skipper Dinesh Karthik blazed his way and nearly got the job done. Remember, Lynn got a life when he was on 7 and boy, how well he has made it count. Batted through to take his side across the finish line with an unbeaten 62. Overall, it was a pretty much collective effort from Kolkata which has seen them bag 2 vital points.
  • If you would look at the scorecard, it would say a last-over finish but mind you, it was a rather comprehensive win for Kolkata. They have come out all guns blazing after that defeat against Delhi in their previous fixture. Chasing a stiff target of 176, both Narine and Lynn provided an electric start. They built a 59-run association for the opening wicket that set the tone for the chase. However, after a mini rain break, the West Indian departed but the Aussie didn't stop.
  • 19.1FOUR! Shubman Gill adds the finishing touch! He removes the helmet and lets out a huge roar in delight. Lynn walks across to him and the entire Kolkata dugout is pumped. Short of a length delivery outside off, Gill gets on top of the bounce and dispatches it through point for a boundary to seal the deal with 5 balls to spare.
  • Umesh Yadav to bowl the final over. Four to get and this is Kolkata's game to lose now.
  • 18.6Very full on middle, Gill jams it out through mid-wicket and will keep strike for the final over. 172/4
  • Shubman Gill is the new man in.
  • 18.5OUT! What a catch from Virat Kohli. Absolutely stunning but he is fuming from within as he throws the ball back to the umpire after claiming that catch. Back of a length on middle, DK flat-bats it down towards long on. Kohli rushes across to his left, the ball was dying in front of him but he dives forward to snatch it inches above the ground.
  • 18.4Wants to finish it off in a cheeky manner. Sees that the third man is inside the ring so tries to play the reverse scoop but fails to connect.
  • 18.3Goes deep in the crease to a short ball and pulls it in front of square on the leg side. Yadav out in the deep mops it up but they take two by the time.
  • 18.2SIX! That should be the game! Superb strike! Another one on a length outside off, Karthik smashes it up and over long off for half a dozen. The crowd is silent and understandably so.
  • 18.1Good length delivery outside off, DK flashes at it but gets it off the toe end of the bat over backward point and comes back for a brace.
  • 17.6Doles out of a full toss, Lynn hits it down to long off and takes a couple of runs. 15 needed from 12 balls. This is in Kolkata's bag. 161/3
  • 17.5Chips this fuller delivery towards long on and runs one.
  • 17.4FOUR! Runs are coming thick and fast and Kolkata are cruising along now! Slower bumper on middle and leg, Karthik swivels a touch and helps it through backward square leg. The man at fine leg had no chance to cut that one off.
  • 17.3Well in! Slower delivery on middle, DK comes down the track and works it in the gap at mid-wicket. He calls for two and Lynn responds. There is a direct hit scored at the striker's end and it's referred upstairs. Replays show Dinesh is well in. So two more added to the total.
  • There is a direct hit at the striker's end against Dinesh Karthik. The Kolkata skipper seems to be well home though...
  • 17.2Very full outside off, squeezed square on the off side for a single.
  • 17.1FOUR! All power! A dipping full toss, Lynn gets underneath it and slams it powerfully down the ground for a boundary. Brutal, really brutal hit!
  • Tim Southee to bowl his last over. Can he pick up a wicket?
  • 16.6FOUR! Brilliant way to end the over! That should release all the pressure. Full and outside off. It is a half-volley. Karthik drives it through covers and the ball races away. 29 needed from 18. 147/3
  • 16.5Direct needed but missed and an overthrow! Length ball around off, Karthik drives it towards point. The batsmen set off for a run. Southee collects the ball and misses his shy at the striker's end. Lynn had given up there and to his fortune the ball missed. There is nobody backing up and they go for a second. There is a chance for a run out at the non-striker's end also as the fielder fires a throw towards the bowler. But he fails to collect. Two in the end.
  • 16.4Excellent yorker outside off, Lynn squeezes it through point for a run.
  • 16.4Slower ball outside off, Lynn lets it be and it is called a wide.
  • Dinesh Karthik is the new man in.
  • 16.3OUT! Russell, the birthday boy goes for a golden duck! HUGE WICKET! The crowd here erupts. The short ball which has always been a problem for him does the trick. It is a well-directed bumper on middle, Russell clears his front let and goes for the pull. The ball takes the top edge and goes towards fine leg. De Kock runs back, judges it and takes an excellent catch. Never easy those. The Bangalore players are all pumped up. 37 in 21 needed.
  • The physio is out and now Rana is seen walking off the field. Not sure what the issue is but he is retired hurt for the time being. It's Andre Russell comes out to bat now, replacing him.
  • 16.2FOUR! Misfield! You can't just do that at this moment. You have to back your bowlers. Poor by Chahal. This is a good ball by Siraj full and outside off. Rana squeezes it through cover-point. Chahal in the deep runs to his left and then lets the ball through his legs. Rana is now down on the ground. He seems to be struggling, not sure about the exact reason.
  • 16.1Very full outside off, Lynn hits it through covers and gets to the other end. Singles is something Virat won't mind.
  • 16.1WIDE! Pressure getting to him. This is full and wide outside off. Lynn leaves it and the umpire signals a wide.
  • Mohammed Siraj is brought back to bowl.
  • The strategic break has been signaled! 43 needed in 24 balls. The spinners are done for the night and Kohli now has to rely on his seamers to defend this down. With 8 wickets in hand, 9 out of 10 times you would feel it's the batting side who has its noses in front. Can Bangalore turn things around? An exciting finish beckons...
  • 15.6FOUR! That will do for Kolkata! A bit flatter and shorter in length, Nitish Rana gets far too across and pulls it over backward square leg for a boundary to end the over. 4-0-36-2 are the figures of Ashwin. 133/2
  • 15.5Turning back in on middle and leg, Lynn looks to play the sweep but misses and so does de Kock. A bye stolen.
  • 15.4Reverse sweeps it towards short third man and runs a quick single.
  • 15.3In the air... dropped! Another googly, turning away from Rana who decides to go over extra cover. He has mistimed it high in the air and Umesh Yadav in the deep comes running in and dives forward to take it but the ball doesn't stick in his hands. They run two.
  • 15.2Is down on one knee to play the sweep but gets a top edge over backward square leg for a single.
  • 15.1Clever bowling! Even before delivering the ball, Lynn sits down to play the sweep shot but this is the wrong one which turns back in and goes right under his bat and past the off pole. It missed the off stump by a whisker.
  • Murugan Ashwin to bowl out now.
  • 14.6A bit short and angling away, Nitish cuts hard but finds Mandeep at backward point. Excellent over from Southee, just 4 from it. 52 is what Kolkata need from 30 balls. 124/2
  • 14.5Lynn tries to jam this very full delivery but squirts it off the inner half behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • 14.4Slower bumper on middle, it keeps rising and gets big on Rana who is in no position to pull but still goes on with that shot. Gets it off the top edge which goes over the stumps. The man from backward point charges in and in the meanwhile, they steal a brisk single.
  • 14.3Fuller and tailing back in, Lynn clears his front leg to drive it away but gets it off the inside edge towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 14.2Another one on a shorter length outside off, hit to sweeper cover for a single.
  • 14.1Short of a length ball, close to off stump, Rana tries to cut but it's too close to his body. Mistimes it towards short cover.
  • Tim Southee to bowl his third.
  • 13.6Drops it short on middle, pulled off the back foot to deep mid-wicket for a single. Chahal is done for the night, his figures read 4-0-29-0! 120/2
  • 13.5Brings up the fifty, his fifth in the league! Agreed he was dropped on 7 earlier but since then he has never looked back. Sweeps one behind square on the leg side to get to the other end. Will he stay there to take Kolkata over the finish line?
  • 13.4Quicker delivery around middle and leg, CL once again brings out the sweep shot. Beats the man at backward square leg who is inside the circle and picks two.
  • 13.3Now tries to play the reverse sweep. Connects but finds the man at short third man. Two dots. What will Lynn do now?
  • 13.2Gets down quickly to sweep again but doesn't connect.
  • 13.1FOUR! He's hit that so, so hard! Flatter delivery to begin the final over, Lynn sits down and nails the sweep through backward square leg. There were two men in the deep but it goes right between them and across the fence. Booming hit!
  • Yuzvendra Chahal to bowl out now.
  • 12.6Ends the over with another sweep shot. Pinches a single towards deep square leg. 6 runs and a wicket off it, good one for Bangalore. 112/2
  • 12.5Pushes it quicker through the air, lands it outside off, Chris gets down to play the sweep but is beaten for pace this time.
  • 12.4Floated delivery around off, Lynn gets down and fetches it from outside off. Didn't get it off the middle but it's over backward square leg. Two taken.
  • 12.3Slides in a googly, Rana is happy to punch it through cover and get off the mark.
  • Nitish Rana is in next.
  • 12.2OUT! Robin Uthappa departs without converting a start yet again! Flighted delivery, turning away a touch, Robin Uthappa sits down to play the mighty slog but gets it off the toe end of the bat. It goes straight down the throat of Tim Southee stationed at long on. The breathtaking stand is broken. 68 needed from 46 balls. Is this the turning point of the game?
  • 12.2Wide! Turning away from a length outside off, Robin plays and misses.
  • 12.1A bit too full in length and it's eased down to long on for a single.
  • Murugan Ashwin is back on.
  • 11.6SIX! It was turning out to be a good over but a biggie on the last ball spoils the good work! Touch short on middle, sits up to be hit and Uthappa swivels a touch and pulls it with authority over deep backward square leg for half a dozen. Moves to 40 with that. 106/1
  • 11.5Brings it back into the batsman, Robin nudges it towards the fielder at short mid-wicket.
  • 11.4Slower back of a length ball outside off, smashed to sweeper cover for a single. 100 is up for Kolkata.
  • 11.3Pounds in a short ball, directing towards Lynn who looks to pull but misses. The umpire calls it one for the over.
  • 11.2Deft! Nicely done by RU. Waits for a length delivery and then smartly opens the face of the bat to run it fine down to third man for a single.
  • 11.1Fuller delivery and on the stumps, it's bunted back to Yadav off the front foot by Robbie.
  • Umesh Yadav is brought back into the attack.

  • 10.3Tossed up again, turning away a bit, pushed with an angle blade to point for a single.
  • 10.2SIX! Uthappa has absolutely smashed that one! Magnificent! Tossed up delivery, a bit too full and right in the zone. Robin takes a stride ahead and belts it cleanly over long on for a biggie.
  • 10.1Tossed up around middle and leg, swept behind square on the leg side. Ashwin in the deep fumbles but they are happy with one.

  • 9.4The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground. One run added to the total.
  • 9.3FOUR! Back-to-back boundaries! This is clever from Uthappa. Slower through the air on off, it turns away further. Uthappa reverse sweeps it. This time gets it away from the slip fielder and into the fence.
  • 9.2FOUR! Pierced the gap to perfection! Full on the pads, Uthappa flicks it through mid-wicket. The ball races off the turf and beats deep mid-wicket and long on for a boundary.
  • 9.1Hits the reverse sweep but Kohli at first slip does really well to go down low and field it.
  • 8.6Slower ball and inside the tramline. Lynn lets it be. 74/1
  • 8.5Follows it up with a single as Uthappa taps it towards point.
  • 8.4FOUR! Poor ball and poor effort in the field also. It is on the pads, Uthappa flicks it towards short fine leg. Mandeep Singh there lets it through his hands and it goes to the fence. That should release the pressure which was building.

He floats this one up on off, it is in the zone for Narine as he tries to clear long off. He does not get the desired connection and it goes into the hands of de Grandhomme who takes a good catch just ahead of the ropes.
