  • Another one-sided contest we just witnessed. The action now moves to Jaipur where Rajasthan will host Kolkata on 18th April at 2000 IST. Do join us for all the action and let's hope for a close game. Cheers!
  • Rohit Sharma bags the Man of the Match award for his stupendous knock. When he came at the crease, Mumbai were 0/2 but the skipper took things under control and not only bailed his side out but powered them to a massive total. A word of praise for Virat Kohli also, who remained unbeaten on 92 and had he received some help from other Bangalore batsmen, the result could have been different.
  • When chasing a big total, you need an excellent beginning. Bangalore though lost their two premium batsmen, Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers inside the Powerplay. From there onward, it was a struggle for them. Although skipper Virat Kohli kept scoring from one end, he failed to receive any support from the other end. Mayank Markande and Krunal Pandya were neat with their spells, not allowing any easy runs and the latter bagged a 3-wicket haul. Altogether, a great team effort by Mumbai and they have opened their account with a comprehensive win, their fifth in a row against Bangalore.
  • Massive win for Mumbai and they are finally off the mark this season. A victory nicely set up by their batsmen. Powered by Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis' knock, they posted a gigantic total on the board and then their bowlers finally showed up and defended the total on the fourth attempt. Rohit Sharma looks a happy man and the Mumbai dugout is delighted. Hugs and high-fives all around.
  • 19.6A dot to end the innings! On a length and on the pads, Kohli tries to whip but misses to get hit high on the thigh pad. MUMBAI WIN BY 46 RUNS!
  • 19.5The 100 looks farfetched now! He needs 8 from 1 as this is a dot ball. A short ball on middle, Kohli mistimes his pull towards long on and turns down the single.
  • 19.4SIX! He has picked the bones out of that one! A slower ball on middle, Kohli goes down on one knee and deposits it over the long on stand. He moves onto 92 and he has 2 balls to get 8 runs for his century.
  • 19.3Back of a length again, Kohli swings but this time is beaten by the bounce.
  • 19.2EDGY FOUR! Again it is a length ball on off, Kohli tries to go big but the ball takes the outside edge and goes over short third man for a boundary.
  • 19.1Length ball, Kohli hits it over covers and gets two. A brace to start the last over. Not enough, not even six maximums would be enough.
  • 18.6On middle, Kohli whips it through mid-wicket and he retains strike. 155/8
  • 18.5Driven towards the mid off region. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 18.4SIX! Mohammed Siraj says he can bat too! On a length and it is the cutter on middle. Siraj lines it up and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence for the second biggie of the over.

  • Mohammed Siraj is the next man in.
  • 17.6OUT! In the air... taken! Bumrah gets his second and both in this over. A bumper on off, Umesh tries to pull hard but the ball takes the top edge and balloons towards Rohit Sharma at covers who takes it easily. The end is now nigh for Bangalore. 137/8

  • 17.4Angles it into the batsman. Umesh flicks it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • Umesh Yadav walks out to the middle.
  • 17.3OUT! EASY CATCH! Krunal Pandya takes it, you just cannot keep him out of the game. A slower ball and very full outside off. Woakes opens the face of the bat and tries to hit it over the point region but it takes the edge and goes into the hands of short third man. Bumrah gets his first.

  • 17.1Kohli hits this short ball down to long off for a run.

  • 16.6A low full toss outside off, Kohli drives it through covers for a run. 134/6
  • 16.5Another bumper on middle, Kohli flat-bats it down towards long on for a brace.
  • 16.4Comes down the track and McClenaghan bangs it short on middle. Kohli slaps it towards cover and sets off for a run. Hardik Pandya there has a shy and misses. There is no one backing up and the batsmen take an overthrow. Don't think though these extra runs will harm Mumbai.
  • 16.3Fuller on middle, Woakes mistimes his heave towards mid-wicket for a run.
  • 16.2Fuller this time on the pads, Kohli misses the flick and gets hit on the pads. The ball rolls on the off side and the batsmen run a leg bye.
  • 16.1SIX! That was a biggie as soon as he hit it. A slower bouncer, this one though bounces at a comfortable height for the batsman. Kohli stands tall and pulls it over mid-wicket for a biggie.
  • Mitchell McClenaghan is back into the attack.
  • 15.6Comes down the track and goes for the pull but misses it. A dot to end the over. 121/6
  • 15.5SIX! Mid on was inside the circle but that would not have mattered! This is on a fuller length on middle. Woakes lofts it with a straight bat and it goes as straight as an arrow and also clears the fence.
  • 15.4This time he nudges it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 15.3FOUR! Fuller in length on off, Kohli winds up and strokes it over the bowler's head and the ball races away.
  • 15.2Another length ball on off, Woakes open the face of the bat and guides it through third man for a run.
  • 15.1Fuller in length on middle, Kohli hits it hard down to long on for a run.

  • 14.4Comes down the track and mistimes it towards wide mid off for a run.

  • Chris Woakes makes his way out to the middle.
  • 13.5OUT! STUMPED! Nicely bowled! Markande slows this one up and tosses it up outside off. Sarfaraz comes down the track and tries to throw the kitchen sink at it. But he is beaten by the flight and away turn. Misses the ball completely, Tare collects the ball and whips the bails off immediately. Not sure what the Bangalore batsmen are thinking. They have one of the best batsmen in the world at the other end but are just refusing to stay with him in the middle.
  • 13.4Eases it down to long on for a run.
  • 13.3NOT OUT! Sarfaraz has just made it. Flatter on off, Kohli works it towards mid-wicket. They run one and now go for the second. Pollard there picks the ball up and throws it to the bowler who collects and whips the bails off. The players appeal, not with much conviction though but the umpire just to be sure goes upstairs. Replays show Khan has just made it.
  • A run out appeal against Sarfaraz at the non-striker's end. No player seems to be excited here.
  • 13.2The batsman has pushed it to the cover region.
  • 13.1SIX! Fine, fine shot! Markande tosses this one up on off, Kohli goes inside out over covers. Connects it well and it seems to have gone all the way. The umpire goes upstairs to check and it has hit the ropes on the full. Maximum. 10 from the last two, they have to keep going.
  • Mayank Markande is back on.
  • Second Strategic break signaled!
  • 12.6FOUR! This is nicely played! Full and outside off, Khan squeezes it past the diving fielder at point for a boundary. They will need this in abundance. 94/5
  • 12.5Sarfaraz goes for the paddle but seeing the ball is outside off. He opts against the shot.
  • The physio is out to have a look. This is not good. He is up on his feet and he has swelling just under his right eye. Let us hope he is okay. He is making his way back into the dressing room. Luckily for him the ball did not hit him on the eye. Aditya Tare comes out in place of him. He will keep wickets for the rest of the game I believe.
  • 12.4NASTY BLOW! A short ball which is mistimed towards mid-wicket. The fielder there dives forward to catch it but it falls short. He deflects it towards mid-wicket. The batsmen run a single. The fielder, Hardik Pandya picks the ball up and throws it towards the keeper. Ishan Kishan gets an awkward bounce and is hit near his left eye and he is down on the ground. Seems to be in a lot of pain.
  • 12.3Angles it into the batsman. Sarfaraz taps it towards covers for a run.
  • 12.2Once again hits the length hard on off, Kohli guides it down to third man for an easy single.
  • 12.1Back of a length on off, Kohli defends it off the back foot.
  • Jasprit Bumrah is back on.
  • 11.6And now a good fielding effort, Krunal is all charged up. Khan forces it right back and Pandya makes a diving stop. He is done for the night, 4-0-28-3! Praiseworthy performance. 87/5
  • 11.5Ripper! Sunil Gavaskar on air is very impressed by Krunal as he says that Pandya is making a serious case for selection in the national team. A beautiful delivery, drifting in around middle and spinning away after landing. Sarfaraz is completely at sea as he tries to defend but is beaten by the turn.
  • 11.4Nudges it off his pads towards backward square leg and takes a run.
  • Sarfaraz Khan is the new batsman.
  • 11.3OUT! Krunal is putting on a show here. Another one in the bag for him. A great piece of thinking bowling. He bowls it wide outside off, Sundar has to reach out for it as he attempts for a big shot. Fails to get any control on his lofted shot and hands a simple catch to Suryakumar Yadav at long off. The wheels are coming off, half the side is back in the hut and their skipper Kohli is quickly running out of partners.
  • 11.2Quicker one outside off, 101.5 kph, Sundar tries to use the pace and play it late but fails to put bat on ball.
  • 11.1Goes on the back foot and hits it with the turn to deep mid-wicket. A couple taken.

  • 10.4Spinning away from the batsman, Sundar reads it and drives it towards point for a run.
  • 10.3FOUR! Connects and connects well this time. A loopy delivery, slower through the air at 79.7 kph, Sundar leans forward and lifts it nonchalantly over covers for a boundary.
  • 10.2An attempted drive by Sundar but he slices it off the outer half of the bat to point.
  • 10.1Loopy and full outside off, Kohli strokes it with the spin through mid off and jogs across to the other end.
  • 9.6Flatter and on off, blocked off the back foot. 76/4
  • 9.5Denies Pandya the hat-trick. Uses his feet and strokes a full ball to long on for one.
  • Washington Sundar is the new batsman. But it will be Virat Kohli to face the hat-trick ball.
  • 9.4OUT! Gone first ball. It's going from bad to worse for Bangalore. The Kiwi goes down on one knee for a big slog sweep first up but fails to make proper connection. An easy catch for Duminy (sub) in the deep mid-wicket region. Krunal is all pumped up. The crowd is right behind Mumbai. They have Bangalore on the mat but cannot afford to relax till the time skipper Kohli is in the middle.
  • Corey Anderson is the new batsman.
  • 9.4OUT! Stumped off a wide! This was coming! Mandeep got down the track in the last over also but Kishan failed to grab the ball then. Not this time. Another delivery spinning away, Singh is down the track in a flash for a big shot but is beaten by the away spin. Ishan is lightning quick to take the ball and break the stumps in no time. Another one bites the dust and Bangalore are in a deep trouble. Someone needs to stay there with the skipper.

  • 9.2Driven towards the mid off region. The batsmen have run through for a single.

  • 8.4A conventional sweep this time by Mandeep and he places it down to fine leg for a run.
  • 8.4Wide! Also a stumping chase goes abegging. Markande senses the charge from the batsman and hence sprays it wide outside off. The keeper though fails to collect the ball and as a result, Mandeep survives.
  • 8.3Kohli becomes the highest run-scorer in the history of this League. A gentle nudge down to fine leg for a single to get there.
  • 8.2Goes on the back foot and punches it to the bowler.
  • 8.1Tossed up ball outside off, played down to point.
  • 7.6Tickles it off his pads to deep mid-wicket and scampers back for the second run. 65/2

  • 7.2Tossed up ball around off, Kohli plays a late dab with the turn to short third man and takes a run.
  • 7.1Not out! The benefit of doubt given to the batsman. A flighted full ball on off, Mandeep pushes it to extra cover and looks for a sharp single. Rohit there picks it up and scores a direct hit at the bowler's end. It's referred upstairs, looks touch and go in the replays and Singh has been given the benefit.
  • Big moment in the game! A direct hit here and the in-form batsman Mandeep Singh seems to be in danger.
  • 6.6Uses his feet to get down the track but fails to pick the googly. It goes off his pads to the on side and they take a leg bye. Fine start by the young leggie, only 4 from it. 59/2

  • 6.1Flighted and full outside off, Kohli reaches out and mistimes his drive back to the bowler.
  • Mayank Markande is introduced into the attack. Would love to pick Kohli, the national team skipper and make a statement.
  • Strategic break has been signaled!
  • 5.6Another cutter on middle, Kohli whips it through mid-wicket to end the over with a single. A good last over of the Powerplay for Bangalore, 11 from it but Mumbai will be the happier of the two sides as they have got two big wickets. 159 needed in 84. 55/2
  • 5.5Full and on the pads, Mandeep flicks it but finds the fielder at deep square leg for a run.
  • 5.4Clever bowling! A cutter on off, this shapes away after pitching. Singh tries to keep it out off the front foot but gets beaten.

He connects well but does not get the desired height. He hits it flat and finds the fielder, Hardik Pandya at deep mid-wicket to perfection who takes a sitter. The crowd erupts and de Villiers walks back dejected. McClenaghan is off on a celebratory run. Bangalore in big trouble now.
  • 4.3Pushed to the cover region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 4.2Fuller in length on middle, de Villiers flicks it towards mid on and takes a run to get off the mark off the first ball.
  • AB de Villiers makes his way out to the middle.
  • 4.1OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Mitchell McClenaghan draws first blood. They needed this especially after the start Bangalore are off to. De Kock walks down the track and McClenaghan drags his length back a little and bowls it on off. De Kock tries to force it through the off side but misses the ball all ends up and sees the LED bails light up. The Mumbai players are ecstatic and they get the dangerous Quinton. 174 more needed.
  • 3.6Very full again on middle, de Kock drives it towards mid off for a run. 13 from the over and Bangalore are off to a flying start as well. This opening stand is flourishing at the moment. 40/0

  • 2.4Fullish and outside off, de Kock tries driving but misses.
  • 2.3Short and pulled through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 2.2Huge shout for a caught behind. Mitchell McClenaghan is off and running in celebration. But the umpire is unmoved. A great delivery by McClenaghan. Lands it on a back of a length around middle and gets it to move a shade. Kohli fails to keep it out and it seems he has edged it behind to the keeper. Ishan dives forward to take the catch and they appeal. Nothing from the umpire and Mumbai also don't go for the referral. Off the thigh pad, the replays show.
  • 2.1Angles in a full ball on middle, it's knocked down to mid on for a run.
  • Mitchell McClenaghan to bowl now.
  • 1.6Driven through mid on by the batsman. 20/0

  • 1.3FOUR! Just over! Kohli gets this on the leg stump, he whips it over the Pollard at mid-wicket and the ball races away. Second boundary in the over.
  • 1.2Works it with the turn towards mid-wicket to change strike. Good by Quinton, Bangalore would not want any dots here.
  • 1.1FOUR! Never a good idea to bowl a left arm spinner against a left hander. De Kock knows it and he is going after him. Pandya tosses this one up on middle.
