  • That's all we have for today! Earlier in the day, Delhi chased down a huge total to defeat Mumbai at the Wankhede and then now Hyderabad defeated Kolkata at the Eden Gardens. So, both the teams hosting the game lost today. How often do you see this? Something that will keep you thinking. On that note, we take your leave. Do join us back on Sunday for another double header. First game is between Bangalore and Rajasthan at 1600 IST and then later Punjab will face Chennai at 2000 IST. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
  • Man of the Match award has been given to Billy Stanlake. He bent his back and bowled with some venom to not let the hosts off the hook. He ended with mind blowing figures of 4-0-21-2! Shakib, Bhuvi and Williamson would also have been in contention for the same but the Aussie pacer got the nod.
  • Things once again got heated up towards the end as both the set batsmen perished but Hooda and Pathan made sure that they don't repeat the same mistake that they committed against Mumbai in the last game. Both hung in there and safely saw their side cross the finish line with an over to spare.
  • Kolkata's other spinners then came to the fore. They not only slowed things down but also picked up a couple of wickets in the process to keep the match in balance. The spin trio (Narine, Kuldeep and Chawla) gave away 60 runs in 12 overs and picked up 4 wickets between them. However, Williamson kept a cool head and took matter in his hands. He was happy to milk singles and doubles and then stroked some boundaries to dictate terms. He got an able partner in Shakib as the duo nurtured along and strung 59 runs together to bring the equation down to run-a-ball.
  • Hyderabad seal their first ever win at the Eden Gardens. And what would please them even more - it's their third win on the trot this season and surely they have kicked their campaign off in a grand manner. After yet another clinical show from their bowlers, a different sight was witnessed in the run chase. It was Wriddhiman Saha who got them off to a flying start but perished soon after Narine was introduced. The West Indian struck twice inside the Powerplay to stem the run flow.
  • 18.6SIX! Yusuf Pathan, the ex-Kolkata player has silenced the Eden Gardens here. Gets a hug and a pat from Russell and the customary handshakes follow. Russell with another short one on middle, Yusuf goes for the pull but gets it off the top edge. Still good enough connection to end the game with a maximum over deep backward square leg. A 5-WICKET VICTORY FOR HYDERABAD!
  • 18.5Clips one through mid-wicket and takes a single.
  • 18.4Pathan jams out a yorker and Hooda is quick to cross for a single.
  • 18.3FOUR! Up and over Lynn at extra cover! On a length and outside off, Pathan looks to punch it on the up. Didn't time it well but has enough to clear a leaping Chris Lynn at extra cover. More importantly for his side, it then goes to the fence. Happy faces in the Hyderabad dugout.
  • 18.2Fuller outside off, driven through cover for a single.
  • 18.1Short delivery outside off, Hooda tries to pull that one but failed to connect it.
  • Andre Russell will bowl the penultimate over. The big West Indian has gone for some runs tonight. Can he redeem himself by picking up a wicket here.
  • 17.6Short of a length delivery outside off, a flat-bat punch wide of long off will give Yusuf two. 13 required off 12 balls. 126/5
  • 17.5FOUR! Yusuf Pathan drills one! Releases all the pressure that was applied on the previous few balls. Mitchell goes fuller outside off, Pathan nails the drive through extra cover. Finds the gap and he doesn't even bother running.
  • 17.5Wide! Johnson pounds in a short ball on middle and leg and it sails over the head of Pathan. Called as a wide.
  • 17.4Back of a length delivery on middle and leg, clipped towards square leg where Russell dives and stops. They are not risking the single here.
  • 17.3Yusuf Pathan stays put inside the crease and defends it back down the track.
  • Yusuf Pathan is in next.
  • 17.2OUT! Straight to Russell! Kane Williamson is gone. Is there a twist in the tale now? This surely must have shaken the Hyderabad dugout. Good length delivery, at 134.1 kph, Williamson walks across and tries to clip it away. All he manages is to hand a simple catch to Russell at square leg. Kolkata hanging in there.
  • 17.1Good length delivery on middle and leg, worked through square leg for a single.
  • Mitchell Johnson to bowl now. He has given 22 in the two overs he has bowled so far.
  • 16.6Skips down the track and sees off Narine's spell with a whippy flick through mid-wicket. A single taken. 4-0-17-2 are his figures! 118/4
  • 16.5Fifty for Kane Williamson, his 4th in the League! Has played sensibly and needs to be there to take his team over the line. Gets to the milestone with a punch down to long off. Just a raise of the bat from him as he knows the job isn't done yet.
  • 16.4Outside off, cut through point for a single.
  • 16.3The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
  • 16.2Stays back and pushes it away towards point.
  • 16.1Flatter delivery outside off, punched down to long off for a single.
  • Sunil Narine to bowl his final over.
  • 15.6Inside edge! No need to go further then! Seam up delivery from the leggie, Deepak seemed to have missed it to get hit on the pads. Chawla appeals but the umpire turns it down. Karthik is quick to take the review. Snicko spots a spike and that is it. Kolkata lose their review! 114/4
  • More drama! Kolkata feel they have got another as they take the DRS against the new comer, Hooda. Where is the impact?
  • Deepak Hooda is the new man in. He was the star for them in the last game.
  • Strategic break!
  • 15.5OUT! There is the wicket Kolkata were searching for! But has it come a bit too late? Or maybe not. Remember, Hyderabad slipped massively from such a position against Mumbai in their last game so the hosts can still believe. It's the leg break, on a shorter length as Shakib was giving the charge. Misses it, the ball hits his pads and clatters the stumps behind. The 59-run stand has been broken! 25 needed off 25 balls.
  • 15.4Googly again, turning the other away, Shakib makes a bit too much of room and hence fails to get going with the cut shot.

  • Piyush Chawla to bowl out now. Can he pick up a wicket here to open this game up again?
  • 14.6Down the leg side, helped towards fine leg for a single. 27 needed off 30 now. 112/3
  • 14.5Good running! Williamson looks to tap and run but gets an inside edge on the pads. Shakib calls him through and seeing this Mavi charges to the ball. He picks it up and throws it at the stumps at the striker's end but the southpaw is easily home.
  • 14.4On a length and outside off, it stays a bit low, KW goes for the cut but the ball sneaks under his bat and goes on a couple of bounces to the keeper.
  • 14.3SIX! The 50-run stand is up between the two! The duo has done well to not stutter after the fall of some quick wickets. Shortish delivery, angling down leg, Williamson swivels inside the crease and pulls it over fine leg. A maximum results! The skipper has stood tall. Can he see his side through?
  • 14.2From around the wicket to the southpaw, angles in a length delivery but it's a bit too straight. Clipped down to fine leg for a single.
  • 14.1Starts off with a short delivery, creeping in, Kane is hurried by it as he tries the pull shot. Mistimes it over square leg for a single.
  • Shivam Mavi into the attack for the first time. Let's see what the youngster has to offer now. Big moment for the U19 star. He impressed everyone with his pace during the World Cup and has got the chance to brush shoulders with some of the best players in the business. Would love to leave an impact here. Having said all that, is Dinesh Karthik late in bringing him into the attack?
  • 13.6Another googly, cut towards sweeper cover for a single. 4-0-23-1, Kuldeep is done for the night. 37 needed in 36 balls. 102/3

  • 12.6Eases a full ball towards long off to keep strike. Not a single boundary scored but still 9 runs coming off it. 97/3
  • 12.5Good running! It's come down to run-a-ball so Kane isn't going to take any risk. He presses forward to a tossed up ball and drives it along the ground through cover-point. Two more added to the total.
  • 12.4Dropped short outside off, punched through the line. It's in the gap and that allows them to bag a brace.
  • 12.3Goes back again, uses the dept and slaps it in the same region. A single this time.
  • 12.2Turning away from a length, cut hard to deep point for two more. Shakib is middling it.
  • 12.1A punch down to long on for one.
  • Sunil Narine returns and understandably so.
  • 11.6SIX! Make that 16 off the over! This over has turned the tide in the visitors' favor. It's short, it's wide and it's been slashed hard. Shakib gets too much meat to send it over the third man fence. Boy, how well he has struck this one! He was too good with the ball and now is doing it with the bat. 88/3
  • 11.5FOUR! Sliced over mid off! Runs are coming for Hyderabad! Good length delivery, angled across at 119.1 kph, Shakib looks to hit it over covers but slices it. Has enough to clear the man at mid off and gets back-to-back boundaries to his name.
  • 11.4FOUR! Top edge and it's over the keeper. Russell digs in a short one on middle, Shakib looks to pull but this one keeps getting big on him. It takes the top edge and flies over Karthik for a streaky boundary. Andre can't believe it.
  • 11.3Yorker on middle, the southpaw jams it out.
  • 11.2Easily done! Kane runs this down to third man and picks one.
  • 11.1Good stop, saved a couple there, Rana! Shortish delivery, angling away, Shakib gets on top of the bounce and hits it square on the off side. Nitish throws himself to his right and makes a half-stop. A single taken. Rana got out playing a similar shot.
  • Andre Russell is back into the attack.
  • 10.6Nice loop on this occasion, full and dipping in around leg, Shakib sweeps it through square leg for a single. An expensive over, 10 from it! 72/3
  • 10.5A quicker and shorter delivery outside off, Kane cracks it off his back foot to sweeper cover for one.
  • 10.4Flatter and on off, Williamson mistimes his punch shot back to the bowler.
  • 10.3FOUR! Another boundary, this will release some pressure. Yadav persists with the shorter length ball and this time the Kiwi nails his pull shot in front of square leg. Once again no chance for the fielder in the deep.
  • 10.2FOUR! A welcome boundary for Hyderabad. Kuldeep is on the shorter side around off and Williamson hammers his pull shot to the deep mid-wicket fence.
  • 10.1Too full and on middle, hit firmly across the line but straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 9.6Another googly, this time to the southpaw, it lands around leg and spins towards off, Shakib waits on the back foot and keeps it out safely on the off side. We have reached the halfway mark. The match is interestingly poised. 77 needed off 60 balls. 62/3

  • Shakib Al Hasan is the new man in.
  • Time for a strategic break!
  • 8.4OUT! Trapped in front! Kuldeep Yadav has earned a wicket! Kolkata's spinners are doing at their den. Slower through the air, seemed like it's the top spinner. Pandey presses forward to play for the turn but misses to get hit on the pads right in front of the stumps. A huge appeal and the finger goes up.
