  • We come to the end of an exciting encounter. Mumbai grab a significant victory and keep their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive. Move to 5th place, just one spot behind Punjab. Moving on, there's a double header on the 5th of May. The first one is between Chennai and Bangalore in Pune at 1600 local (1030 GMT), which will be followed by the Hyderabad-Delhi clash in the former's den at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Please do join in for Super Saturday. Cheers!
  • Suryakumar Yadav is the Man of the Match for this game. His calm and fluent fifty provided Mumbai a brisk start and laid the platform for the others to come and take advantage of.
  • Possibly the break made Punjab a little rusty. Their over-reliance on Chris Gayle and KL Rahul was exposed tonight. The two provided a solid start, but the innings fell apart after their departure. If it wasn't for Marcus Stoinis' last-over heroics, the hosts wouldn't have even got to a fighting total. With the ball, they were on top for the most part, with everyone doing their bit, but Krunal Pandya's late onslaught aided by Rohit Sharma's own little cameo, became their undoing. Some work to be done for the home side, but Mumbai will rejoice.
  • Everyone in the city of Bollywood will know this, but the importance of this win cannot be understated for the visitors. They had a stiff task ahead of them. Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav (who scored a fifty) started the chase with 175 to gun down. The former departed in the Powerplay, but the latter combined with Ishan Kishan to take things in their stride. A couple of wickets were lost in quick succession, but Hardik stepped in to score a few lusty blows. The real damage, however, and the fatal blow, was done when the other Pandya walked in. Krunal's blitzkrieg and his stand of fifty in 18 balls along with skipper Rohit Sharma was enough to see their side across the finish line.
  • 18.6FOUR LEG BYES! And that's it, the job is done. MUMBAI WIN BY 6 WICKETS! The final runs didn't come in the most desirable manner, but nobody cares, especially the Mumbai dugout. Tye spears it full around off, Krunal swings and misses. It goes off his back pad and away to the third man boundary. The Punjab players appeal for a leg before, but the umpire remains unmoved.
  • 18.5Just behind a length, outside off, Rohit leans across and works it to mid-wicket. Brings the elder Pandya back on strike.
  • 18.4Swings across the line once more, not the ideal connection though. A single to deep mid-wicket for a single.
  • 18.3SIX! Right in the slot and that's gone miles into the stands. The 50-run stand is up with this. Krunal Pandya stands his ground and murders this powerfully across the line. Clears wide long on and Mumbai are on the verge of a vital win here.
  • 18.2FOUR! Slower delivery on a back of a length, Krunal picks this up quickly. Waits for it and then slices it over point to find the fence.
  • 18.1Sharma charges out of his crease and smacks it down towards long on for a run.
  • Andrew Tye comes back into the attack.
  • 17.6SIX! That's a biiiiiigggggg hit! Krunal Pandya is taking it to Marcus Stoinis. 20 off the over. Just ahead of a length on middle and off, the slower one, Krunal gets his front foot out of the way and launches it high and handsome over long on. Maximum! 16 needed to win from 12 balls now, very much in Mumbai's reach. 159/4
  • 17.5FOUR! Juicy full toss, Krunal says thank you for the gift and puts it away. On the pads, he whips this with the wrists behind square leg. Nobody out there, it's another boundary.
  • 17.4FOUR! Now Krunal joins in on the action. Width offered outside off, the southpaw doesn't need any second invitation to go after this. He crashes it through the covers and finds the fence.
  • 17.3Waits for the ball to come to him as he dabs it just wide of backward point and rotates strike.
  • 17.2FOUR! Class, all class! When he's on song, there are few better. Punjab need to be weary of his threat now. Very full and outside off, Rohit's already picked his spot as he drills the drive through extra cover for a boundary.
  • 17.1Goes full and straight, Krunal mistimes the loft down the ground. Will get just the one run, but that will bring his skipper back on strike.
  • Marcus Stoinis is brought on again.
  • 16.6SIX! Down the track and bang goes Rohit Sharma! 14 off the over. He finally cuts loose. Charges out and slogs the full ball over the mid-wicket fence for half a dozen. 36 in 18 now. 139/4
  • 16.5Comfortably leans ahead and pushes it to long on. One run taken.
  • 16.4Helps the pull along the ground, in front of square leg and crosses over.
  • 16.3Good comeback so far from Mujeeb. Bowls this a bit slower through the air, Rohit gets low to unleash the big slog sweep but misses it and wears it on the body. Stifled shout, turned down.
  • 16.2Short and wide, Rohit cuts this straight to short third man.
  • 16.1SIX! Perfect start to the over from the Mumbai skipper. He sees the ball coming full, so throws his front leg out of the way and hammers it back down the ground and into the sightscreen. Shot.
  • Mujeeb Ur Rahman back on.
  • 15.6This full delivery is hit straight back to the bowler. A successful over from Tye, 7 runs and the wicket of Hardik Pandya from it. 125/4
  • 15.5Could have just as easily dragged it back on. The knuckle ball outside off, Krunal crouches low to steer it to third man but gets an inside edge past the off stick.
  • 15.4FOUR! Whipped away with class. Superb shot. Fuller and slower on the pads, Krunal brings the wrists into the play and hits it through mid-wicket. A touch square, and nobody's out there. It goes across the rope.
  • 15.4Wide! Sprays it down leg, Krunal misses the flick. The umpire raises his arms sideways and signals a wide.
  • Krunal Pandya walks out to bat next.
  • Strategic break.
  • 15.3OUT! Tye gets rid of the big-hitting Mumbai all-rounder. Could be the most important in the context of the game. Hardik Pandya can take the game away in the latter stages, the wicket comes at the right time. Tye bowls a clever slower ball on off, it cuts back in and completely deceives Hardik Pandya, who is years early into the slog. Misses it and the bails are off. Mumbai need 55 runs to win in 27 deliveries.
  • 15.2Played to mid-wicket region by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 15.1Hardik at first moves across the stumps to paddle this, but then seeing the length shortened he opens the face and dabs it to short third man. One run to the total.
  • 14.6Rohit is rock solid in defense. Tossed up on off, Rohit deals with it safely. 118/3
  • 14.5Stays inside the crease and brings a straight bat in defense.
  • 14.4Works this away with a slightly closed face, through the vacant spaces in the mid-wicket area for just the one.
  • 14.3Bit of width outside off, cut square but straight to the fielder.
  • 14.2SIX! TONK! Literally the sound that came off the bat. A clean hit. Superb. Full and right in the slot, Hardik clears his front leg and smokes it over the long on boundary for a maximum.
  • 14.1Another brisk single, Hardik is once again fast to get to the other end. Rohit dabs it to backward point and both batsmen are off. The throw comes in to Rahul who takes the bails off and appeals. The replays show Hardik is fine.
  • A run out appeal against Hardik Pandya is referred upstairs. Looks quite safe to be honest.
  • 13.6Short of a good length outside off, Sharma dabs it to short third man. Hardik was instantly away and got to the other end with utmost ease. 65 needed in 36. 110/3
  • 13.5In line of the stumps, punched hard to long on for one.
  • 13.4One more drive, but this time it's a bit square. Stoinis out in the deep moves to his left, fumbles but this time keeps the ball from the rope. Two runs taken.
  • 13.3FOUR! That's poor from Stoinis. Really poor. Very full outside off, Hardik hammers this through the covers. Sweet connection of the bat, but it's straight to Stoinis in the deep. However, the Aussie makes a total mess of this and lets it through him. Boundary results.
  • 13.2Takes the pace off this one, bowls it on a fullish length outside off. Rohit leans across and works it square on the leg side for a run.
  • 13.1Quite full outside off, drilled down to long off for a single.
  • Andrew Tye also comes back on.
  • Rohit Sharma is next in.
  • 12.6OUT! Mujeeb has his revenge. This is a superb delivery. Bowls the carrom ball on off, shorter in length, Kishan gives the charge and is done in for all money. Swings across the line and misses as the ball goes past the inside edge, to crash into the stumps behind. 100/3
  • 12.5SIX! That's outta here! Tossed up on off, Kishan gets low and right off the middle, slog sweeps it over mid-wicket for a biggie.
  • 12.4Short outside off, Hardik chops it towards cover and sets off. Yuvraj there collects the ball and has a shy at the bowler's end, but misses.
  • 12.3FOUR! He's found the gap! Knew the short ball was coming, so he stayed back and heaved it over mid-wicket. Bisected the two men in the deep and found the fence.
  • 12.2From around the wicket, it's short and flat outside off, slapped again, this time down the ground to long off for a single.
  • 12.1Short and flat outside off, slapped off the back foot through covers for one run.
  • Mujeeb Ur Rahman is back on.
  • 11.6SIX ! Big swing from Kishan and it's gone all the way! Short ball on leg, the Mumbai keeper swivels and pulls it off the middle. Over the fine leg fence and that's gone for half a dozen. 88 needed in 48. 87/2
  • 11.5Full toss on the stumps, Hardik is off the mark with a smack to long on. Takes a single for doing so.
  • Hardik Pandya walks into the middle next.
  • 11.4OUT! That's the big wicket. Stoinis strikes and puts his side back in this game. It's the knuckle ball around off, possibly the height gets a bit too much on Yadav who top edges his pull behind. Rahul runs back, settles himself under the ball and takes a good catch.
  • 11.3Hurls one well outside off, the batsman looks to reach out to it, only in vain.
  • 11.2Fuller in length, outside the line of off stump, Yadav drives it to mid off. Kishan took off for the run, but was sent back just in time. The shy at the bowler's end missed anyway.
  • 11.1FOUR! Low full toss on leg, Yadav picks this off his pads and elegantly flicks it in front of square leg. Rajpoot out in the deep covers decent ground to his left, but can't stop it with the dive.
  • Marcus Stoinis returns.
  • 10.6Darted full outside off, reverse swept to short third man for nothing. 9 off this over, Mumbai need 99 to win off 54 balls. 76/1
  • 10.5SIX! Right off the meat. Good shot, will certainly relieve some pressure off his shoulders. Loopy and full on off, Kishan kneels down and slog sweeps it into the mid-wicket stands for a maximum.
  • 10.4Yadav stands tall and offers a firm punch through the gap in the covers for a single.
  • 10.3Stumping chance missed! What a delivery. It's the leg break from Ravi Ash. Just outside leg, spins and beats the big hoick of Suryakumar Yadav. Had Rahul collected this, the batsman would have been gone. Yadav was well out of his crease.
  • 10.2The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 10.1Arm ball around off, punched off the back foot through cover for one.
  • Ravichandran Ashwin to have a go with the ball again.
  • 9.6Back of a length down the leg side, Kishan looks to pull this fine down the leg side but gets a glove behind. Luckily for him, it goes to Rahul on the bounce. 67/1
  • 9.5Wanted to cut this away too, but only a bottom edge this time. Plays it to backward point and gets one.
  • 9.4FOUR! Fifty for Suryakumar Yadav, his 4th in the Indian T20 League. Another superb knock from the opener, he's been in fine touch this season. Short and wide, it's cut fiercely behind point. Third man tries to cut it off but can't get to it.
  • 9.3SIX! That's gone high into the night sky and then more importantly, well across the fence too. Fuller and just outside off, possibly the slower one which Yadav picks up. Launches it straight back down the ground and hits the sightscreen.
  • 9.2Hits the deck hard as he pounds it on a back of a length outside off, Yadav mistimes the slap towards cover.
  • 9.1An off-pace delivery, on a length on middle and leg, Kishan skips down, makes a little room and taps it down on the off side with soft hands. Both batsmen take off quickly and manage to cross over easily.
  • Ankit Rajpoot brought back on.
  • Strategic break.
  • 8.6Yorker speared outside off, young Ishan Kishan brings a straight blade down in response and squeezes it out in front of point. Quick single stolen. Good first over from Stoinis, tidy work. Concedes just 6 from it. 55/1
  • 8.5Angles across a length delivery in the off stump channel, Kishan prods forward to block. Gets beaten past the outside edge. Good delivery.
  • 8.4Full toss on the pads, easily worked away to deep mid-wicket. One run taken.
  • 8.3Just behind a length, attacking the stumps, Yadav walks down the track looking to flick it across the line. Ends up taking another hit on the thigh pad.
  • 8.2Landed on a good length, some decent pace on it and it skids off the deck as well. Suryakumar attempts to make connection, but gets rapped high on the thigh pad.
  • 8.1FOUR! That's absolutely smashed. The fifty comes up for Mumbai. Quite full and just outside off, Yadav leans ahead and drives it back through mid on, beating the man in the deep to the boundary line.
  • Marcus Stoinis on to bowl.
  • 7.6Fraction straight in line, fuller and quicker in pace, Kishan kneels down and sweeps it to short fine leg. 49/1
  • 7.5Comfortably blocks it down through mid off and gets off strike.
  • 7.4Lands it around off, there's some extra bounce off the surface as Kishan backs away. Punches it through covers and takes one.
  • 7.3Kishan goes across the line, places it through mid-wicket and comes back for the second.
  • 7.2Works this away through the mid-wicket region. Just helps the paddle through that area and crosses over.
  • 7.1FOUR! Welcomes Axar with a boundary. Poor ball to begin with. Serves a half-tracker on middle and off, Yadav moves inside the line and pulls it behind square leg along the ground for a boundary.
  • Axar Patel on to roll his arm over.
  • 6.6Tad quicker on off, Ishan gets a leading edge on the off side. 40/1

  • 6.4Outside off, spinning away, Kishan dabs it with an open face to point.
  • 6.3Short again, pulled away just wide of mid on for a single.
  • 6.2Drags the length back on this occasion, keeps it in line of the stumps, Suryakumar Yadav hangs back and defends.
  • 6.1Full and straight on the stumps, eased with a closed face to mid-wicket.
  • Ravichandran Ashwin comes back into the bowling attack.
  • 5.6Some drift inside as Mujeeb floats it around off, Kishan leans across to play but gets an inside edge onto his pads. Good over from Mujeeb comes to an end, a wicket and 2 runs off it. 39/1
  • 5.6Wide! Too far outside off, it's across the tramline so a wide is called.
  • 5.5Provides width outside off, not much air on this one, Kishan cuts it to point.
  • Ishan Kishan in to bat next.
  • 5.4OUT! Edged and taken! Lewis is gone and Punjab rejoice. Mujeeb continues his good run with the ball. Short and wide outside off, a hint of turn away and that's enough to get the West Indian. He looks to cut but gets a feather behind and Rahul takes it swiftly.
  • 5.3Switches the angle and comes from around the wicket, bowls it quicker through the air and a bit short in length once more. Lewis camps back to put bat on ball but is hit high on the thigh pad. Muted appeal, turned down.

  • 1.4Played to the point region by the batsman.
  • 1.3NOT OUT! Rahul gets this wrong. Back of a length ball on leg, Yadav looks to help this on its way but he seems to have missed his flick. There is a noise as the ball goes to the keeper. Rahul thinks that must have taken a faint tickle so appeals. The umpire stays put. After a long chat with his skipper, Ashwin takes it up. Replays show us that there was no bat involved and noise was of the ball brushing the thigh pad. Punjab lose their lone review.
