  • Sunil Narine is adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance. That is all we have from this game but the action isn't finished for the day. Second game of the evening is just about to begin, hop on to the other tab and checkout what's happening in the game between Delhi and Bangalore. See you on the other side!!
  • With very little support from the other end, the pressure started to mount on KL Rahul. He tried to cut loose but eventually fell to the guile of Sunil Narine. Aaron Finch did scare Kolkata for a while with his big hitting but as soon as he was out, the writing was on the wall. Ravichandran Ashwin and Andrew Tye formed a partnership towards the end but that only delayed the inevitable. Prasidh Krishna also impressed with the ball today and made his presence felt.
  • Rahul and Gayle provided Punjab with a cracking start as they registered another 50-run opening stand and were on course to chase down this total. Kolkata were desperate for a wicket at that stage and their skipper turned to Russell. The West Indian all-rounder didn't disappoint and ended as the most successful bowler of the evening for the visiting team. He got back-to-back wickets and got his team back on top. Despite all the fall of wickets at the other end, Rahul continued to do well with the bat.
  • Brave performance by Punjab but they eventually fell short of the target. Kolkata have successfully defended the total and have bagged a couple of important points. They now have 12 points against their name and have leaped over Mumbai in the points table. Their bowlers have got the job done and it was a commendable effort from the visiting team. They batted superbly and then the bowlers did decently to defend the total. It was a complete team performance from Karthik's men. Also, this is the first instance in Indore that a chasing team has lost the match.
  • 19.6And that is it! KOLKATA WIN BY 31 RUNS! Krishna ends the game with another bumper, angling in from outside off, Mohit backs away to cut that, he can't lay bat to ball.

  • 19.4FOUR! Super shot from Mohit! Fuller length ball outside off, he slashes hard and carts it through the covers for a boundary.
  • Mohit Sharma walks out to bat.
  • 19.3OUT! Plumb in front! Easy decision for the umpire though he took his time before raising his finger eventually. It is a pitched up delivery on middle and leg stump line, Ashwin camps back and looks to heave that one across the line. He misses it completely. The ball hits him flush on the knee roll, the unprotected area. Krishna appeals and gets his second wicket. Ashwin looks in some pain and the Kolkata skipper is trying to help him out. End of a gutsy knock from the home captain.

  • Barinder Sran is the next man in.

  • Strategic break.
  • 15.2OUT! Searles gets his man, innovation isn't Finch's strength and he departs attempting one of those innovative strokes. A low full toss on the off stump line from Searles and Finch looks to just use the pace of the bowler. He ends up playing it too square than he wanted. Kuldeep inside the circle takes a good low catch at short fine leg. Is that it for Punjab? They need 90 off 28 balls.

  • Strategic break. Axar Patel meanwhile is the new batsman. Also, Javon Searles has returned into the attack.
  • 8.6OUT! Oh dear, an unfortunate dismissal! Narine though will take it with open arms. He has won this battle. The bowlers always do as they get multiple attempts to bowl at the batsman. The legendary off spinner Muralitharan once said, if a batsman hits me for five sixes in a row and I get him out on the sixth ball, it's me who has won the battle. Don't know if this argument holds true in this format or not. Okay now, coming to the delivery. It's a carrom ball around leg from round the wicket angle. Rahul kneels to slog it over the leg side but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It then spins back through his legs to disturb the stumps. A brilliant knock comes to a sad end. • 7.6OUT! Russell gets his third wicket! Krishna just manages to hold on to it. Off cutter from Russell on the stumps, Nair goes down the track and looks to loft that over the long on fence. He doesn't make desired contact and hits it flat to Krishna, who gets into position quickly but the ball nearly bursts through his hand. • 6.2Did he catch that? Lynn isn't claiming! It is a shortish delivery from Searles and Nair goes back to defend that, he plays slightly inside the line of it and gets a thick edge to gully, Lynn dives to his left but he gets it on the bounce.
  • 6.1Short of a length ball on the stumps, Rahul goes across and swipes it away to wide long on for a single.
  • Searles comes on to bowl.
  • 5.6Terrific delivery from Russell, almost goes through the defenses of Rahul. • 4.6Whipped away by Gayle off his stumps, but Gill at fine leg does well to stop that one. He rushes to his left and slides and successfully manages to stop that. 51/0
  • 4.5Onfield decision stands! Noise was of the ball brushing the pads of Gayle! Poor review by DK, he rushed into it and as a result, Kolkata lose their only review. Ball - It's a full pitched delivery, angling down leg and Gayle tries to flick. He fails to middle it and there is some noise as it goes to the keeper. The replays roll in and it proves both DK and the onfield umpire wrong. The wide call has been reversed.
