  • Delhi get their second win of the season. One which they desperately needed and this could very well get their campaign back on track. Plenty of positives for them to take. On Saturday, we have Chennai hosting Mumbai in their new home in Pune. It will begin at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Do join us for that. Cheers!
  • Shreyas Iyer is announced as the Man of the Match for his stunning 93 off 40 deliveries. He smashed 10 sixes and 3 fours and remained unbeaten 7 short of a century. Had there been a couple of more balls to play, he would have surely got there with the way he was playing.
  • After putting in a good show with the bat, the home side continued in the same vein with the ball. Trent Boult, Glenn Maxwell and Avesh Khan provided the early breakthroughs and Kolkata were 4 down within the Powerplay itself. It was more or less game over at that point. Yes, Andre Russell and Shubman Gill did try to resurrect the chase and kept some hope alive, but the risk was always big as there was no recognized batsman left after them. The moment the latter got run out, it all went downhill from there and Russell's blistering knock wasn't enough. A clinical performance from Delhi, their third biggest win in the League (in terms of runs), one which they would be proud of.
  • A much-needed win for Delhi. They finally looked like the team they were meant to going by how they went at the auction. Shreyas Iyer starts his leadership reign on a high. His team completely outclassed the opposition in all departments. The toss was the only thing that went Kolkata's way. After putting Delhi into bat, the hosts got off to a blazing start as Munro and Shaw (who got a fifty) were firing away. It continued on with skipper Iyer playing the knock of his life. His 73-run stand with Maxwell turned the tide in the hosts' favour as they got past the 200-mark for the first time this season.
  • 19.6FOUR! Ends the innings with a couple of boundaries, but to no avail in the grand scheme of things. DELHI WIN BY 55 RUNS! A big one for them. Johnson flicks it over the mid-wicket area and finds the fence. Smiles return in the Delhi dugout.
  • 19.5FOUR! Too full, Johnson creams the drive through the covers and sends it across the boundary line. Good timing on that.
  • 19.4Works it through mid-wicket and takes the single available to him.
  • 19.3Yorker just outside off, Kuldeep backs away, throws his bat at it but can't connect again.
  • 19.2Short ball just outside off, Yadav is a bit sloppy in playing at the ball so misses it.
  • 19.2Wide! Way down the leg side, easy call for the umpire to make.
  • 19.1Fired very, very full on the stumps. Johnson looks to drill this away but gets an inside edge down to fine leg for a single.
  • Trent Boult to bowl the final over.
  • 18.6Some comic relief out in the middle provided by Amit Mishra. Yadav gets an inside edge past the leg stump. Mishra from short fine leg chases after it, dives to stop it and half-does it. The ball is stuck under his body, so he gets it out and tosses it to his mate who has come to assist him. Lovely stuff. Two runs taken. 153/9
  • 18.5The batsman has been hit on the pads as he tried to sweep that one.
  • 18.4FOUR! On the pads, Yadav works it fine down the leg side with a sweep. Beats short fine leg and gets a boundary.
  • 18.3Drifting in on middle and leg, slogged over mid-wicket. One run taken.
  • Kuldeep Yadav is the last man in for Kolkata.
  • 18.2OUT! That's a superb catch from Munro in the deep. On the stumps, Chawla slogs this over square leg. It's travelling flat and towards Colin Munro, who judges the ball well before leaping and taking it above his head.
  • 18.1Works it through mid-wicket and takes one run.
  • Glenn Maxwell to bowl once more.
  • 17.6Low full toss on off, Johnson gets an edge through the vacant slip cordon, down towards third man for a single. 145/8
  • Mitchell Johnson is the new batsman.
  • 17.5OUT! Russell's blistering knock comes to an end. Avesh Khan is right on the money. Excellent yorker on middle stump, can't get any more perfect than that. Russell makes room, shows all three stumps as he tries to hit. Misses and his furniture is rocked in all directions. All but over now for Kolkata, if it already wasn't.
  • 17.4The batsman goes for the pull but misses it completely.
  • 17.3Short ball, Andre backs away to pull. Not where he intended it to, as he hits it down to long on.
  • 17.2Low full toss from around the wicket, Russell slogs it aerially through mid-wicket. It goes to the man in the deep but the big man doesn't take the run again.
  • 17.1The batsman guides it to third man. They pick up a single. 76 needed to win off 17.
  • Avesh Khan back on.
  • 16.6Bouncer on middle and leg, Russell wildly swings in an attempt to connect but misses. 143/7
  • 16.5No wide given! Hmm... Interesting. Down the leg side, Russell makes room by moving down leg, then decides to move out of it. Looks at the umpire but doesn't get anything from him.
  • 16.4Yorker speared in on the stumps, Russell digs it out back to long off. Doesn't take the single this time.
  • 16.3Around the wicket to Chawla, it's angled in on a shortish length. The left-hander taps it awkwardly on the off side and gets off strike.
  • 16.2Slower ball, on a back of a length and outside off. Chawla tries running this down to third man but misses it altogether.
  • 16.1Full toss on the pads, Russell flicks it to deep square leg and rotates strike.
  • Piyush Chawla is next in. Liam Plunkett is also back to bowl.
  • 15.6OUT! Mishra has his second of the over. Lovely. Bowls it short and it's the wrong 'un. Keeps a bit low as Mavi goes back to play across the line. It goes under his bat and takes the leg stump. Mishra ends with figures of 4-1-23-2. A superb spell from the leggie. 141/7
  • 15.5Leg spinner outside off, Mavi sweeps and misses.
  • 15.4The wrong 'un on middle and off, spins in as Mavi gets low to sweep. Is rapped on the gloves as it was heading towards the sticks. Very lucky, had that hit him on the pads, he would have been a goner.
  • Shivam Mavi is the next batsman in. He just needs to rotate the strike to Russell. Kolkata still need 79 to win off 27.
  • Strategic break.
  • 15.3OUT! Much-needed breakthrough for Delhi. They break the 64-run stand just at the right time. Russell cuts this towards backward point and sets off for a run. His partner hesitates in taking off after coming a few steps down the track. Meanwhile, Iyer charges to the ball and fires in a throw to Pant who whips the bails off quickly. Taken upstairs and the replays show even the dive hasn't saved Gill. He departs rather unfortunately after a good knock. That hesitation cost him his wicket.
  • This time the referral is for a run out and Shubman Gill is the man in question. He looks to be gone. Let's see here...
  • 15.2Not out! Russell survives. Flighted around off, it turns away and beats the outside edge of Russell's defensive blade. The keeper takes the bails off and appeals. It's taken upstairs and replays show Dre Russ is fine.
  • A stumping referral being checked upstairs. It is against Andre Russell. He looks safe though.
  • 15.1Short and quicker on off, Gill looks to play the reverse paddle but it goes off his pad on the off side. Leg bye taken.
  • 14.6Fired full and outside off, Russell fails to connect. No wide given, was just inside the tramline. 80 needed in 30 balls. 140/5
  • 14.5The batsman was beaten and missed the line of the delivery.
  • 14.4Short and wide outside off, cut away straight to the man at point.
  • 14.3FOUR! Now a boundary. Too full on off, Russell gets low and bangs it right back over the bowler's head to send it crashing into the ad boards.
  • 14.2SIX! Goes with the spin and clears the fence with ease. Whoa! So much power in that shot. Tossed up outside off, Russell plants his front foot across and lifts it over the cover fence for half a dozen.
  • 14.1Spinning away from around off, cut away square to point where the fielder dives and saves a boundary for his side. Only a single taken.
  • Rahul Tewatia brought on.
  • 13.6Short and flat outside off, punched through the covers for a single. 129/5
  • 13.550-run stand comes up. Shubman chops it away a bit square on the off side and comes back for the second. This partnership has kept Kolkata alive in the chase. Great going from the pair, Russell in particular is looking in dangerous mood.
  • 13.4Picks it off his pads and tucks it away on the leg side. One run to the total.
  • 13.3Full and outside off, Russell gets low to hit but gets a bottom edge through the keeper's legs for a couple.
  • 13.2Knocks it through the gap in the covers and hands over the strike to Russell.
  • 13.1FOUR! Picks the googly and goes with the spin and gets the desired result. Gill takes a step out to the floated ball and lofts it over mid-wicket for a boundary.
  • Amit Mishra returns.
  • 12.6Smacks a short ball straight towards point and steals a quick single. 14 off the over, a good one for Kolkata. 118/5
  • 12.5Short and outside off, cut hard straight to point.
  • 12.4Could have been a run out! Close. Russell dabs this towards point and calls for the single. His partner though sends him back. Tewatia collects the ball and fires a throw at the striker's end but misses. The man backing up can't stop it and it deflects off him. The batsmen eventually cross for a run.
  • 12.3FOUR! Smart batting from Dre Russ! Uses the angle, uses the pace and puts it away. Short ball going away, Russell rises and steers it over backward point for a boundary.
  • 12.2SIX! BOOM! That's outta here. Full attacking the stumps, Russell gets his front leg out of the way and smokes it straight back down the ground for a maximum.
  • 12.2Wide! Slower ball full and wide outside off, Russell looks to make contact but misses. It's across the tramline so a wide is called.
  • 12.1Sensible from Gill. Just taps it into the covers and brings Russell back on strike.
  • Smart move from Shreyas Iyer. He needs a wicket and needs it fast, so brings his strike bowler back on. Trent Boult is into the attack.
  • 11.6SIX! The 100 is up with that. Monstrous hit from a renowned monster. From around the wicket, Khan bowls it on a back of a length. Russell clears his front leg and heaves it deeper into the mid-wicket stands. 2nd tier this time. What a hit. 104/5
  • 11.6Wide! Angles it down the leg side, Andre looks to flick but misses. Wide signalled.
  • 11.5SIX! That's almost out of the Feroz Shah Kotla! Short of a length on off, not that short but it's all the same to Russell. He just stands tall and muscles it deep into the mid-wicket stands for a biggie.
  • 11.4Good bouncer. Sharp, fast and well-directed. Russell can only duck and evade.
  • 11.3Punched firmly off the back foot, through the covers. The man in the deep mops it up and keeps the batsmen to just the one.
  • 11.2Mistimes his pull to long on where Boult moves to his left and slides to stop it. One run taken.
  • 11.1Doesn't even look at the ball while swinging. Khan takes the pace off this and shortens the length. Russell stays leg side to club it over the leg side, but misses it completely.
  • Avesh Khan brought back on.
  • 10.6Straightening up a shade on off, Gill defends it from within the crease. 89/5
  • 10.5Russell flicks it away with a wristy shot. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 10.4Good comeback. Short ball on middle and leg, too good for Russell who can't connect with his bat.
  • 10.3FOUR! Muscled that! Right in the gap. Andre Russell is a monster. Picks up the slower one this time, it's on a back of a length and then powers it with a pull through mid-wicket, bisecting the gap between the two men in the deep.
  • 10.2Seeing Russell back away, Plunkett bowls a cutter outside off. Russell swings for a big hit, only to miss.
  • 10.1Angling in as Plunkett comes from wide of the crease, Gill uses the angle as he works it through mid-wicket for one run.
  • Liam Plunkett to bowl his third over.
  • 9.6Punched off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single. 83/5
  • 9.5FOUR! Superb placement and timing from Shubman Gill. Did not hit that with too much power at all. Just helps the pull through mid-wicket, beating the two men out in the deep for a boundary.
  • 9.4Russell is off the mark. He works it to mid-wicket for a single.
  • Andre Russell is the new man in for Kolkata.
  • 9.3OUT! First wicket of the season for Amit Mishra! He is delighted with this. Tosses it up close to off, Karthik looks to clear the infield over covers by opening his body up a bit but is undone by the extra spin. Ends up slicing it towards point where Trent Boult takes one of the simplest catches he's ever taken. Half the side back in the hut for the visitors now. They need 143 in 63 balls.
  • 9.2Bit of a dangerous shot to play. Mishra fires it too full, Karthik is down to sweep but the shot is never on. Ends up with a bottom edge which bumps on the surface before lobbing on the leg side.
  • 9.1Loopy leg break outside off, spinning away, Gill reaches out to it and cuts it towards point. Boult there dives to his left and keeps the batsmen to just one.
  • 8.6Good running, this. Gill forces it just wide of point and both batsmen quickly set off. Easily done. 76/4
  • 8.5Shaping back in on middle, Dinesh brings the wrists into play as he leans ahead and flicks it to deep square leg for a single.
  • 8.4Forces it down to long off and gets to the other end.
  • 8.3SIX! What a delightful shot! Fuller from Shankar, on off, Gill picks his spot and lofts it over long off with a clean strike. Very well hit.
  • 8.2Full ball aiming the base of off stump, drilled to long on off the inner half. Easy run collected.
  • 8.1Darts it just outside off, Karthik comes half-forward and defends.
  • Vijay Shankar to bowl.
  • Strategic break signalled. Kolkata have been put under the pump and in real trouble as Delhi plucked 4 wickets inside the Powerplay. Dinesh Karthik and Shubman Gill now stand in the middle and have a massive task ahead of them. The experience of the skipper might come in use, but the young Gill will have to keep a calm head and stitch a good partnership. Can't afford to lose any more wickets right now.
  • 7.6Well outside off, Gill reaches out for it and cuts it towards sweeper cover for a double. 66/4
  • 7.5Stays inside the crease and keeps it out with a straight blade.
  • 7.4Driven through mid off by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 7.3Touch quicker through the air around off, forced on the off side from the back foot.
  • 7.2Looped up delivery on off, eased back to long on for a run.
  • 7.1Shorter and flatter on off, DK slaps it down to long on. Moves inside the crease nicely, gets it away with ease after that. Single to the scoreboard.
  • Amit Mishra called on to bowl.
  • 6.6Comes from wide of the crease and angles in a full ball on off, Gill plays it back to the bowler. 10 off the over. 61/4
  • 6.5Works this across the line and gets a single. Comfortably placed it to the right of deep mid-wicket.
  • 6.4SIX! Short boundary over on the leg side and that's gone all the way. Short ball, angling down, Karthik pulls it over backward square leg and clears the rope for half a dozen.
  • 6.3Opens the bat face and guides this shortish ball to third man for one run.
  • 6.2Back of a length outside off with some room to work with. Karthik cuts this quickly through to Munro at sweeper cover. The batsmen jog over and change ends.
  • 6.1Full, around off and swinging away, pushed down past the bowler. Single taken as the man at mid off moves to his right and cuts it off.
  • 5.6Good over from young Avesh Khan. A wicket and 5 runs from it. Shubman runs it down to third man and keeps strike with a single. Kolkata are 51/4 and Delhi were 57/0 at this stage. 51/4
  • 5.5FOUR! Superb shot! Full on off, Gill knows what he wants to do here. He lofts it over mid off cleanly and finds the fence.
  • 5.4Short in length, rising off the deck, Gill looks to smack this over backward point but can't connect.
  • 5.3Back of a length on off, angling in with good pace. Gill mistimes the slap to mid off from within the crease.
  • 5.2Fired full, on middle and off, Gill drives it down towards mid on with the full face of the bat.
  • Shubman Gill is the next batsman in.
  • 5.1OUT! Proper pacer's wicket for Avesh Khan! Superbly done. Hits the deck hard and bangs it in short. Rana is in no position to play the pull shot. Still goes through with it, gets a top edge which Khan takes it with ease moving to his left. Kolkata are 4 down now and we're not even done with the Powerplay.
  • 4.6Another single. 6 off the over. Good start by Plunkett. Bowls one more slower delivery on middle and leg, Rana off the outer half plays it just wide of the cover fielder for one. 46/3
  • 4.5Comfortable single. DK taps this down to third man with an open face and calls his partner through.
  • 4.4Slower ball from Plunkett. Fuller on the pads, Rana works it with gentle hands square on the leg side and both batsmen cross over with ease.
  • 4.3Past point this time. As a result, an easy single comes.
  • 4.2Uppish from DK but it's straight to point. Lucky for him it didn't carry. Length ball moving away from outside off, it's carved square on the off side.
  • 4.1Bit straight in line, angling in on a length on middle and leg, Karthik lofts it across the line over mid-wicket and comes back for the second.
  • Liam Plunkett on to roll his arm over.
  • 3.6FOUR! That's a beautiful shot! Khan slants across a length ball outside off, Rana opens the face and punches it firmly through point. Perfectly in the gap and that will race away. No stopping it. 40/3
  • 3.5Good length delivery in the channel outside off, Karthik with an open face dabs it towards point. Easy run taken.
  • 3.4Sharp bumper outside off, Karthik has nothing to do with that one.
  • 3.3Shaping away from a good length, around the off stump, Rana opens the face of the bat and guides it down to Boult at third man. One run added to the scoreboard.
  • 3.2Just behind a length on middle and leg, Rana stands his ground and defends it with soft hands on the leg side.
  • 3.1Goes full and targets the off stick, Dinesh Karthik drives it to mid off and scampers to the other end.
  • Dinesh Karthik, the Kolkata captain, will bat next. Also, Avesh Khan is brought into the bowling attack.
  • 2.6OUT! And Boult has the last laugh. Can't keep a bowler of his quality out for too long. Super. The dangerman Narine departs. Short of a good length angling in on middle and leg, the West Indian makes a little room to pull but spoons a top edge towards Iyer at cover. The Delhi skipper comes inside a few steps and takes it with ease and a lot of glee. Kolkata rocked early and in some trouble now. 33/3
  • 2.5Bumper on off, Narine can't connect. This is better from Boult.
  • 2.4SIX! Back-to-back maximums for Sunil Narine! And this isn't any ordinary bowler, it's Trent Boult. Full on leg, Narine backs away and smokes it straight back over the bowler's head for a biggie.
  • 2.3SIX! Takes the attack to Trent Boult and earns a maximum to his name. Full ball, in his arc and Narine doesn't need any second invitation to put this away. Backs away, gets his front leg out of the way and launches it over long off.
  • 2.2Off the mark immediately. Rana runs this back of a length delivery outside off down to third man for a single.
  • Nitish Rana to bat next.
  • 2.1OUT! Boult dismisses Uthappa! Kolkata are two down in no time. Soft dismissal in the end, really. Short in length, on middle, it's quick in pace which hurries Uthappa into the pull shot. He gets a top edge towards mid-wicket where Shaw takes a simple catch moving backwards, a little to his right.
  • 1.6Uthappa works it with the turn through square leg and gets off the mark with a run. 20/1
  • Robin Uthappa is the new batsman in.
  • 1.5OUT! Maxwell strikes! Perfect start for him and Delhi. Wonderful stuff. Maxwell comes from over the wicket this time and bowls a quicker one on off. Lynn is done in by the pace and gets cramped for room too. Looks to force it across the line but ends up getting an inside edge back on to the stumps. That's an all Aussie affair as Glenn gets the better of Chris.
  • 1.4Hit through the cover area. One run taken.
  • 1.3FOUR! Better placement this time. Beats Munro out in the deep. Around off, Narine crashes it through the gap in the covers, beating the fielder to the rope.
  • 1.2Touch shorter outside off, spinning away a touch, Narine punches it through extra cover. Munro at wide long off moves to his right and puts in a good dive. Saves two runs for his side.
  • 1.1SIX! And that's a big one too. Narine welcomes Maxwell with a maximum. Tossed right up there from around the wicket, Sunil targets the straight boundary and smokes this with a lot of power there. Clears the fence with absolute ease.
  • Glenn Maxwell to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6Back of a length close to off, Narine backs away and slaps it just wide of mid off for a single. 6/0
  • 0.5Drives this full ball to mid off and crosses over.
  • 0.4Superb ball from Trent Boult. Bowls it full and gets it to swing back in, Lynn looks to hit this away but gets an inside edge back onto his pads.
  • 0.3Fraction straight in line, coming back in as Lynn works it on the leg side.
  • 0.2FOUR! Nice placement. Short of a good length into the body, Lynn swivels and pulls it powerfully along the ground, through square leg for a boundary.
  • 0.1Back of a length delivery angling across, Lynn taps it in front of short cover from within the crease.
  • Chase time, folks! A familiar pair of Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn to open for Kolkata. They have a mountain to climb and the start here holds great importance. These two are known for their explosive batting and the visiting team needs them to fire big time. Trent Boult to kickoff proceedings with the ball. Here we go again...
