  • So that is it from this game. Delhi have come out victorious here tonight. This result though will not make a lot of difference on the table as the teams will remain on the position they are on. The Indian T20 League continues as we have two games for you on Saturday. it will be Rajasthan taking on Bangalore first in Jaipur at 1600 local (1030 GMT) and then Hyderabad will be facing Kolkata in their own den at 2000 local (1430 GMT). Till then, take care and goodbye.
  • Man of the Match, Harshal Patel, says it is more difficult to bowl on this ground but he managed to execute his plans well. He feels his four overs were more important than his cameo. Informs he was just watching the ball and playing it on its merit. Ends by saying he has worked on his own game and he has looked to stick to the basics.
  • Shreyas Iyer, the Delhi skipper, says they were desperate for this victory and they are satisfied as they have got it against a team which is considered as a very strong unit. Credits Harshal Patel for the way he batted and bowled. He mentions they were always ready for everything but they could not execute their plans in all the games.
  • MS Dhoni, the Chennai skipper, opines that the wicket got difficult as the game progressed which was the reason why their batsmen found it difficult to score runs and even credits the bowlers from the opposition for bowling well. Says it is difficult to predict how the wicket will behave and feels team needs to be very practical about what went wrong. Feels overall performance has been good but yes, he is disappointed with the loss. Adds he told boys not to look at the points table and just focus on this game. He is happy with the batting department, openers have been doing bulk of the work but wants the middle order to contribute more. States 100 different plans can be given to a bowler but every bowler has different strengths and he can shuffle the bowlers as per the conditions.
  • The Delhi bowlers used the conditions to their favor. Everybody except for Avesh Khan, who took a pounding, has exceptional figures to their name. Trent Boult and Amit Mishra were the highlight as the two finished with combined figures of, 8-0-40-4. The pacers used their variations to great effect. Whereas, the spinners too varied their pace to which the Chennai batsmen had not answers to.
  • Tremendous bowling effort by Delhi as they have managed to defend a target which by many was quipped as not enough against a strong batting line-up. Chasing a decent total the opening pair got the away side off to a good start. But once the Powerplay ended, run scoring got very difficult. Watson departed immediately. Amabti Rayudu looked extremely fluent but he feel soon after scoring his fifty. Billings and Raina went in quick succession which saw MS Dhoni needing a lot to do. He too could not come to the fore and the visitors fell short by quite a few runs.

  • Harshal Patel is back on.
  • 15.6Flatter leg break, turns sharply, Dhoni hangs back and pushes it to covers. Calls for a quick single but seeing the fielder attacking the ball, sends his partner back in time. Dot to end the over. Sandeep finishes his spell. His figures are 4-0-21-1. Exceptional effort from the young leg spinner. 58 needed from 24 balls, Delhi should be optimistic about their chances but with Dhoni still out there, you just can't count Chennai out yet. 105/4

  • 13.2Eases it down to long on to get off the mark.
  • Sam Billings is the next man in.
  • 13.1OUT! How often have we seen this? A wicket right after the strategic break and it is of the dangerous Raina. He too fails to make use of the reprieve he got. He though might consider himself a touch unlucky here as he hit that well. Sandeep bowls the googly and it is quite full on middle, Raina whips it off the middle. He hits it flat and it goes into the hands of Vijay Shankar at deep mid-wicket who takes it. Another timely wicket for Delhi and Sandeep is pumped. Chennai in a spot of bother here.
  • Sandeep Lamichhane is back into the attack.

Rayudu uses his feet and gets a slower ball on the pads. He goes for the flick. Seems to have connected well as the ball goes high up in the air. It does not have the distance though and he holes out to Glenn Maxwell at deep mid-wicket who takes a really good catch. Such skiers are never easy. • Harshal Patel is back on.
  • 8.6Suicidal run, but luckily for Rayudu the fielder misses. He pushes this straight to mid off and goes for a run. The fielder has a shy but misses. Had he hit, Rayudu was nowhere in the picture. Nevertheless, end of an excellent over, just 2 runs and a wicket from it. 46/1

Another short ball on middle, Rayudu is feeding on that at the moment. He rocks back and pulls it with disdain over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. So what was turning out to be a poor Powerplay for Chennai has turned out to be a brilliant one. They are 44 for 0 after it and they need another 119 from 84. 44/0
  • 5.5SIX! Not learning here is Avesh! Poor bowling by him. He bangs this one short and on middle, Rayudu once again gets into position early and sends it over the square leg fence.
  • 5.4Short and outside off, it is cut to cover-point.

  • 3.5FOUR! All the pressure that was building is released by this exquisite stroke by Rayudu. Clears his front leg, gets a full ball on off. He goes over extra cover and the ball races away to the fence.
  • 3.4Good bowling! Angles it into the batsman, giving him no room to free his arms. Watson defends it onto the ground and gets across for a quick run. Boundaries are hard to come by here, something has to give.
  • 3.3Goes fuller again on leg stump, Ambati goes for the heave but gets it off the inner half towards backward square leg for a run.
  • 3.2A yorker on middle, Rayudu jams it out to mid-wicket. Good start by Avesh.

  • 2.2Goes a touch shorter this time on off, Rayudu off the back foot guides it towards third man for a run. No boundaries yet, Iyer won't mind these singles.

  • 1.4Quicker on off, Watson defends it.
  • 1.3The googly on off, Watson chops it to point.
  • 1.2Another good piece of work in the field and again it is the Delhi skipper who is leading from the front. Sandeep tosses this up on off, Watson leans into it and times it through covers. The ball races across the turf. Iyer from covers hares after it, slides and pushes it back. Saves a couple for his side.
  • 1.1Flatter and on off, Watson off the back foot defends it onto the ground.

  • 0.4Excellent fielding! This is exactly what a bowler needs, support in the field. He bowls this on the pads, Watson flicks it towards Iyer at short mid-wicket. The Delhi skipper, dives to his left and makes a good stop.
  • 0.3Another inswinger from off this time, Watson plants his front foot ahead and strokes it to mid off. Good tight bowling here from Boult.
  • 0.2Hint of swing there as it comes back in from middle. Watson gets right behind the line and keeps it out.
  • 0.1Starts with a length ball outside off, Watson off the back foot punches it to the man at point.
  • We are back for the chase! Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson make their way out to the middle. Trent Boult will start the proceedings with the new ball for Delhi.
