  • Time to sign off. A couple of games coming up tomorrow. First up, Rajasthan will take on Hyderabad at 1600 IST (1030 GMT) and then in the evening at 2000 IST (1430 GMT), Bangalore will be hosting Kolkata. Promises to be an exciting Super Sunday. Do join us for all the action. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
  • Rohit Sharma is chosen for the Man of the Match award for his responsible knock in the chase. His presence in the middle made things easy for Mumbai and didn't allow Chennai any opening.
  • Chennai were not up to the mark with the ball tonight. Their pacers went for aplenty while the spinners weren't too effective. Having said all that, what cost the home team the most was their batting in the last 10 overs. They failed to bat with the same intensity and managed only a below-par total. No need to press the panic button though, as batting at the death has been their strongest suit this season and they will consider today's performance as an aberration.
  • A clinical win for Mumbai and their campaign stays alive! They were in a desperate need of this victory to revive their fortunes. The chase was planned well by the visiting team. It was not a big total in front of them and they went cautiously up front. Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis provided a steady start and laid a strong platform and then Rohit Sharma promoted himself to number 3 to take things under his control. His extraordinary knock proved to be enough as Mumbai crossed the line quite easily in the end.
  • 19.4Flighted ball outside off, Pandya plays it late and down to third man for the winning run. Pandya has his hands up in celebration. Smiles in the Mumbai dugout. Sachin Tendulkar is seen hugging and congratulating his players. A much-needed win for the defending champions!
  • 19.3Short and on middle, Rohit pulls it powerfully across the line and the short mid-wicket fielder misfields. They take a run. All level now.
  • 19.2Walks down the track and flicks it through mid-wicket for a couple of runs.
  • 19.1Flatter on middle, punched down to long on for a run.
  • 5 needed off the last over. Can Imran Tahir pull it off for Chennai?
  • 18.6FOUR! What a shot! Genius. It's a low full toss around off, Rohit gets down on one knee and sweeps it over square leg. No fielder in the deep and it's a boundary. Fifty up for the Mumbai skipper, 34th in the Indian T20 League. 17 from the over. The visitors are roaring. 165/2
  • 18.5Play and a miss! Thakur speeds in and bowls a quick full delivery outside off, Rohit flashes and misses.
  • 18.4FOUR! Well played, Rohit Sharma! Thakur takes the pace off the delivery and delivers it short and wide outside off. Sharma waits for it and just places his shot through the gap between backward point and short third man. 9 more needed.
  • 18.3FOUR! Rohit knows his angles! Gets a full ball this time, shuffles across the stumps and with a good wristwork he puts it away to the long leg fence.
  • 18.2FOUR! Up and over backward point! Width on offer outside off, Rohit is quick to latch onto it and goes hard at it. Ends up slicing it over Harbhajan Singh for a boundary.
  • 18.1Very full and outside off, Hardik drills it through covers and takes a single.
  • 17.6Full toss outside off, Rohit walks down the track, reaches out for it and strokes it through covers. A couple taken. 15 from the over and the equation has come down to 22 off 12 balls. 148/2
  • 17.5Watson searches for a yorker, ends up bowling a low full toss on middle, not letting the batsman get under it. Hardik flicks it off the inside half of the bat through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 17.4SIX! Into the night sky! Watson with a length delivery outside off, Hardik goes full monty and launches it over long on for a biggie. The crowd has gone silent.
  • 17.3Fullish and on middle, forced down to long on for a single.
  • 17.2FOUR! A misfield in the deep and a boundary for Mumbai! Good length ball around off, Rohit stays back and pummels it over covers. Tahir scoots across to his right but fails to make the stop as it goes under his hand.
  • 17.2Wide! Watson goes full and it's just outside the tramline on the off side. Rohit leaves it.
  • 17.1Pitched up ball on off, driven through the line but straight to extra cover.
  • Shane Watson is back on.
  • 16.6Slower delivery, 106.4 kph, Pandya tries to tuck it on the leg side but ends up pushing it back to the bowler. 133/2
  • 16.5Good length ball outside off, Hardik punches it through extra cover and the fielder in the deep rushes across to his right to stop the ball. A couple taken.
  • 16.4Width on offer outside off, Sharma has played it to the point region. One run added to the total.
  • 16.3Bravo mixing up his pace well. Bowls it in the 130s this time around off and Hardik eases it down to long on for a single.
  • 16.2Short and down the leg side, Sharma mistimes his pull shot down to fine leg for a run.
  • Hardik Pandya is promoted up the order.
  • 16.1OUT! Lewis holes out! Just the kind of start Chennai needed after the break. Back of a length delivery outside off, 133.4 kph, Lewis tries to heave it across the line but gets a top edge. It has gone straight up in the air and Thakur coming in from long off makes no mistake. Good pressure catch by him.
  • Strategic break. 42 needed from 24 balls. This game is going down to the wire but still with wickets in hand, Mumbai have their noses in front.
  • 15.6A silent over almost fetched a wicket. Lewis felt the pressure and goes after the shorter delivery. Plays a miscued pull shot in the air towards long on, but it doesn't carry to the fielder in the deep. Only 5 from it. Well bowled, Thakur! 128/1
  • 15.5Too full and on middle, Lewis drills it down the ground but finds mid off. Dot ball. Great over, so far.
  • 15.4Full again and angling down the leg side, Rohit flicks it off his pads to deep mid-wicket for a run.
  • 15.3Fullish and on middle, clipped through mid-wicket and immediately called for two. Got it with ease eventually.
  • 15.2Shortish and on off, Rohit jumps out of the crease and hits it through the line. Raina quickly stops it at extra cover and has an immediate shy at the non-striker's end. Misses the stumps but anyway the West Indian was safely in.
  • 15.1Good length delivery on middle, Lewis punches it from the back foot to covers. The fielder is at the edge of the circle and hence an easy single taken.
  • 47 needed off last five overs. You got to back the chasing team at this stage but strange things have happened in cricket. MS Dhoni brings Shardul Thakur in the attack.
  • 14.6Once again Bravo is on the pads of his countryman, Lewis eases it wide of short fine leg and crosses. 123/1
  • 14.5Bowls it on a shorter side outside off, Rohit cuts it from the back foot through cover-point. A single taken.

  • 14.3Full and speared into the batsman, Sharma tries to heave but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It ricochets in the gap at covers and they cross.
  • 14.2Walks forward to a length ball and pushes it right back. Bravo picks it up and has an immediate shy at the striker's end as Ro rushes back. No harm done.
  • 14.1FOUR! Shot! Short in length and angling into the batsman, Rohit gets on top of the bounce immediately and pulls it behind square leg for a boundary. Elegance! 50-run stand comes up in quick time between the pair.
  • 14.1Wide! Slips a length ball down the leg side, Rohit tries to flick but misses.
  • 13.6Ends with a single by driving it down to long off. 13 from the over. 114/1
  • 13.5Sharma has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 6, 0, 0, 6, 0 - It's been an all or nothing over so far by Watson.
  • 13.4SIX! No half measures there! Watson serves it full and just outside off, Rohit gets forward and across to scoop it high and handsome over fine leg for a maximum.
  • 13.3Slower one outside off, some extra bounce, Rohit taps it down to point.
  • 13.2Hits it firmly through the line but the cover fielder makes a nice stop.
  • 13.1SIX! Whoa! What looked like a mishit has sailed into the stand. Watson with an off pace delivery around off, Rohit gets forward with a big stride and then the extension of his arms take over. Probably he is a shade early into the shot and that's why the bottom hand comes off the handle but still it finds the sweet spot of the bat and clears the long off field.
  • Shane Watson comes back into the attack.
  • 12.6FOUR! Spoils a good over with a boundary off the last delivery. Bravo serves a full toss on off, Lewis stays back and packs a punch through extra cover for a boundary. 101/1
  • 12.5Pacey delivery, full around middle and leg, 135 kph, Rohit fails to flick and it goes off his pads to backward square leg. A leg bye taken.

  • 11.2Goes on the back foot and strokes it through covers for a run.
  • 11.1Flatter and on off, punched down to long on for a single.
  • 10.6A googly around off, spinning away, Lewis moves back and tries to squeeze it out but gets beaten. 16 from the over! 87/1
  • 10.5SIX! All power! Lewis has absolutely hammered this short delivery out of the park. The key was he picked the length early and then showed no mercy in putting it over long on. The fall of a wicket has not disturbed his concentration a single bit.
  • 10.4Driven towards the mid off region. They pick up a single.
  • 10.3Short and on middle, pulled ferociously to deep mid-wicket. Stopped near the boundary line and they crossed for a run.
  • 10.3Wide! This one is served way wide outside the tramline.
  • 10.2SIX! That's hit with tremendous power! Tahir gets this one to spin away from the batsman, Lewis moves back to make space, not sure he read the variation but still goes with the shot. Middles it well and rockets it over covers for a maximum.
  • 10.1Taps it down in the gap on the leg side and gets off the mark with a single.
  • 9.6Works it off his pads to deep backward square leg for a brace. 6 runs and wicket from the over, a good one by Bhajji. 71/1
  • Rohit Sharma is in next at number 3.
  • 9.5OUT! Extremely well taken by Jadeja in the deep! A short delivery on middle, turning back in a shade, Yadav keeps himself on the back foot as he pulls it across the line. Makes fine connection but Jadeja in the deep at mid-wicket covers fair ground and dives to catch the dying ball. Wonderful athleticism shown by Sir. Chennai taste first success. Can they build on this?
  • 9.4Skidding back into the batsman and cramping him for room. Lewis plays it out at the last moment to deep point for one.
  • 9.3Turning the other way, Yadav plays it down to long on and collects another run.
  • 9.2Short and outside off, cut through cover-point for a single.
  • 9.1Tossed up ball on off, forced down to long on for a run.
  • Strategic break. Good going from Mumbai. They haven't gone bonkers from the word go but have done well not to lose any wicket. Just behind the required rate and keeping wickets in the tank will help. Having said that, we might see a shift in gear by one of the two batsmen. Chennai will be eyeing wickets obviously.
  • 8.6FOUR! That's all power. Tahir bowls a high full toss outside off, Lewis attacks it with all his might and spanks it over the bowler's head for a boundary. 65/0
  • 8.5Four byes! Tahir continues to fire it in. This time it's way wide outside off, Lewis swings and misses and Dhoni also fails to collect. It races behind for a boundary. Bonus runs and it will relieve some pressure.

  • 8.3Another play and a miss! This time Lewis tries to go inside out over covers but the ball turns away enough to beat the bat.

  • Imran Tahir to bowl his leggies.
  • 7.6Flatter and on off, hit back to the bowler to end a superb over, only 2 coming off it. 56/0
  • 7.5Once again it's hit firmly through the line but Raina is manning that region like a leopard. Another fine stop.
  • 7.4Brilliant fielding, Raina! A shortish ball around off, Lewis punches it powerfully through the line and Raina makes an outstanding diving stop to his left.
  • 7.3Quicker on off, kept out to covers.
  • 7.2Loopy off spinner on middle and leg, it's tickled to deep backward square leg for a run.
  • 7.1Shortish and on off, punched to sweeper cover for a single.
  • Harbhajan Singh is back on.

  • 6.2Waits for a length ball around off and pushes it with an angled bat through cover-point for a single.

  • Shane Watson returns after the fielding restriction relaxes.
  • 5.6Turns it off his pads to square leg for a run. 50 up for Mumbai in quick time as the Powerplay comes to an end. 50/0
  • 5.5This one probably stops a bit onto the batsman who pushes it back uppishly. Doesn't carry to the bowler and it rolls down to mid off. The non-striker shows interest in a run but is sent back.
  • 5.4SIX! This young man continues to impress! Receives a delivery on his pads with glee and swings it big over backward square leg for a maximum.
  • 5.3The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. One run added to the total.
  • 5.2Chance of a run out! A slower delivery, full and wide outside off, Yadav mishits it towards mid on and looks for a quick single. Vijay (sub) misses his shy at the non-striker's end. Would have been touch and go.
  • 5.1A length ball on off, Suryakumar defends it by getting half forward.
  • Shardul Thakur is back on.
  • 4.6Knocks it down to long on and once again keeps strike. 7 from the over. 41/0
  • 4.5FOUR! This time he has nailed it! The length remains short from Harbhajan, it's around off and Yadav goes through with his shot. Doesn't try to hit it hard, just places his shot through cover-point and finds the fence.
  • 4.4Tossed up ball around off, a bit on the shorter side, it's punched from the back foot to covers. Off the leading half a bit.
  • 4.3A top stop in the deep by Rayudu! Saves a certain boundary. The delivery was short around leg which was pulled behind square leg. Rayudu does extremely well to stop the racing ball. Keeps them down to just one.
  • 4.2Flighted and full around off, a slider probably, Lewis pushes it down off the inside half of the bat to mid on.
  • Oh dear! It seems Deepak Chahar has done something to his hamstring. Not looking comfortable and in fact is walking gingerly off the field. Harbhajan Singh to complete the over.
  • 4.1A 119.1 kph slower delivery, it's full and on middle, Yadav flicks it through square leg and collects a single.
  • 3.6Once again the line is quite straight from Watson and it has been worked around with ease by Yadav. He clips it in front of square leg and retains strike with a single. 34/0
  • 3.5Full and angling in on middle, it's flicked through the gap at mid-wicket and they take a couple of runs.
  • 3.4On a length around off, defended off the back foot.
  • 3.3Once again edgy by Yadav. He tries to play the line which is around off but closes the face of the bat. It squirts off the outside edge and goes through backward point for a couple.
  • 3.2FOUR! Once again placement was the key! Shortish and wide outside off, Yadav reaches out for it and steers it through the gap at backward point. There is a fielder in the deep but he is a mere spectator.
  • 3.1Nearly a return catch! This one hold up a bit after landing as it's angled around off, Yadav closes the face of the bat early as he attempts to flick. It pops out off the leading edge but falls wide of Watson.
  • Shane Watson to bowl now.
  • 2.6A slower full ball on the pads, 123 kph, it's eased wide of short fine leg and they take a couple of runs. 11 from the over and it's been a good start for Mumbai, so far. 25/0
  • 2.5The batsman works it down the leg side. One run added to the total.
  • 2.4FOUR! Excellently connected. A pacey delivery this time, on a shorter length outside off, Yadav waits for it on his back foot and ramps it over short third man for a boundary.
  • 2.3Clever change in pace to deceive the batsman. It's short and outside off, Yadav swings his bat early and misses.
  • 2.2Gets behind the line of the delivery and punches it straight back. Chahar stops it in his followthrough, although not a clean one.
  • 2.1FOUR! Nicely timed and placed! A length ball around off, Yadav stays back and tucks it through backward square leg. The old legs of Harbhajan gives it the chase from deep mid-wicket but fails to cut it off. Suryakumar is particularly strong on his pads and that's the reason why the fielder was a bit square in the deep. Still he found the gap.
  • 1.6FOUR! Not in much control though! Thakur bends his back to go short and serves it around middle and leg, Lewis turns inside the crease with the pull shot, fails to middle it properly but gets enough wood to send it racing away to the fine leg fence. 14/0
  • 1.5Oohhh...a false shot this time. Lewis is tempted into a drive this time. He tries to drill a full ball wide outside off and gets beaten.
  • 1.4Back of a length delivery outside off, there is an opportunity to go after it and the West Indian does. He punches it off his back foot but fails to beat Raina at cover-point.
  • 1.3Angling away from the batsman, on a good length, Lewis is ready to give himself time today. Makes yet another leave.
  • 1.2Straighter in line and it has been worked off the pads through mid-wicket for a couple of runs.
  • 1.1In the channel outside off, good pace, 141.8 kph, Lewis makes a leave.
  • 1.1Wide! Wrong beginning, down the leg side, Lewis tries to flick but misses.
  • Shardul Thakur to bowl from the other end.
  • 0.6A zippy delivery, on the shorter side once again, Yadav tries to pull but is probably beaten for pace. Takes a blow on his body. Not for the first time we have seen this in this game, reminds our colleague. Yup, Shane Watson also copped a similar blow while batting. 7/0
  • 0.6Wide! A delivery on the length but slipping down the leg side, Yadav tries to flick but misses.
  • 0.5Chahar continues to be on the shorter side of the length, Yadav's punchy shot from the back foot is stopped by a tumbling Billings.
  • 0.4Short again and Chahar gets away with it. Yadav attacks it and flat-bats it through the line. Makes proper connection but finds Raina at cover-point.
  • 0.3This one is on the pads and helped on its way through square leg for a couple of runs.
  • 0.2FOUR! Slashes and slashes hard! Once again Chahar is on the shorter side and this time he offers width as well. Suryakumar latches onto it and smashes it past the diving cover-point fielder for a boundary.
  • 0.1Starts with a back of a length ball around off, Yadav gets behind the line and blocks it back.
  • We are back for the chase. Mumbai do not flirt with their opening pair. Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav are out in the middle. Many Mumbai fans would like to see Rohit open the innings, they will have to wait for another game. Chennai have taken the field and given Deepak Chahar the ball.
