  • That is it for today. Pune had a forgettable outing and they would want to put it behind themselves as soon as possible. Delhi, on the other side, would be pleased with their effort. Anyways the action now shifts to Wankhede where Mumbai host the reigning champions Hyderabad tomorrow. The action begins at 2000 local and 1430 GMT. Do follow all the updates.
  • Sanju Samson (Man of the Match) expresses happiness at his big knock and importantly being part of a win. Dedicates his contribution to Rahul Dravid and the rest of the team management. Feels that the team atmosphere is fantastic. Accepts that he has been wasting starts a lot in recent years and is happy at having made it big today. Praises Chris Morris' big-hitting and also adds that Rishabh Pant is another clean striker. Ends by saying that he enjoyed the outing today.
  • Delhi captain, Zaheer Khan says it was a perfect win and much needed. Thinks that this side contains a lot of potential and it is necessary to back that. Praises Samson for playing a quality innings and mentions Morris' cameo too. Says that too much of bowling options is a good headache and that they have the likes of Rabada, Shami and Jayant Yadav warming the bench. Jokes that he has strong muscle memory (for performing well today). Also credits the physios for helping him out constantly. Admits that they consciously tried to be very good on the field since they are a young side. Ends by saying that they did a lot of things right in the first match too but says that they are happy to register a win here because it brings self belief.
  • Pune captain, Ajinkya Rahane says that 180-190 would have been a good total but Sanju Samson batted really well. Thinks that Morris' cameo was very good and that hand them the momentum. Opines that Zaheer Khan and Amit Mishra bowled very well. Mentions that they couldn't build partnerships and that is what they needed. Conveys that in T20 cricket one over with the bat or ball can change things. Ends by saying that one has to learn from the mistakes and move on.
  • A crushing win for Delhi. Firstly, Sanju Samson's blistering ton and a whirlwind cameo from Chris Morris propelled the visitors to a marauding total of 205. In reply, the Pune chase never took off as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Eventually, they fell way short and endured a pounding defeat. Zaheer Khan and Amit Mishra took a 3-fer apiece to do bulk of the damage as the hosts were blown away. Concerns for Pune, especially their bowling but the batsmen also looked out of sorts without regular skipper Steve Smith. As for Delhi, they have opened their account in style.
  • 16.1OUT! DELHI HAVE WON THE MATCH BY 97 RUNS. Cummins bowls this on a length and keeps it slow and outside off, Dinda is deceived by the slowness of the ball and pushes it unintentionally towards covers. Amit Mishra dives to his left and takes a stunner by his standards. That is it for Pune.
  • Pat Cummins is back.
  • 15.6Pitches this on leg and brings it in, Tahir defends it off the back foot. 108/9
  • 15.5Bowls this fuller and quicker, Tahir defends it well.
  • 15.4Flighted delivery, outside off, Dinda looks to slog but it drags it to long on for a run.
  • Imran Tahir is the last man in.
  • Time out taken. Not sure what strategy can be discussed at this break.
  • 15.3OUT! Mishra has bounced back after his poor performance with the bat in the previous game. Mishra bowls the leg break slower through the air, Zampa kneels and slog sweeps it. It was a slog that needed more prayers as it never looked like clearing the mid-wicket fence. Samson positions himself well there and takes the catch.
  • 15.2Mishra gives this more flight and Zampa looks to sweep it and gets beaten on the turn.
  • 15.1Flights this one around off, Dinda goes back and cuts it to deep cover for a single.
  • 14.6Short of a length ball, Zampa looks to play across the line but gets beaten. 106/8
  • 14.5Dinda heaves it off the inner half of the bat to mid-wicket for a single.
  • 14.5Wide! Bowls this down the leg side, Dinda looks to tuck but it is out of his reach. Wide called.
  • 14.4Shortish delivery, Dinda looks to pull it but misses.
  • 14.3FOUR! Length delivery, outside off, Dinda drives it over covers for a boundary.
  • 14.2NOT OUT! Karun Nair almost pulled off a blinder. Zaheer Khan bowls this very full and Dinda looks to flick it only to edge it towards slip. Karun Nair dived to his right and grabs it with one handed. Delhi have started celebrating but the umpire has taken it upstairs, the soft signal is out. Replays show that after Karun caught it the ball brushed on the ground. After multiple replays the third umpire decides to rule in Dinda's favour.
  • Dinda seems to have been taken at slip by Nair. The umpires want to check if the catch is clean. Soft signal is out.
  • Ashok Dinda comes out to bat.
  • 14.1OUT! He strikes straightaway! It is his third wicket. Bowls this on short and in the line of the stumps, Chahar has a wild swing at it but only manages a top edge. Pant hops a touch and catches it. As easy as it gets for the umpire. This probably will be a huge win for Delhi.
  • 13.6That ball has taken the inside edge of the batsman and thudded into his pads. 100/7
  • 13.5FOUR! Good stroke! Fuller delivery, outside off, Zampa creams it through covers for a boundary.
  • 13.4Tosses this one around off, Chahar clips it to deep mid-wicket for one run.
  • 13.3Zampa flicks this delivery through mid-wicket for a single.
  • Zampa has avoided the hat-trick. For the count, Mishra has achieved the feat thrice before.
  • 13.2Bowls a googly and Zampa fails to read it and gets pinged on the pads. Mishra appealing but it was going down the leg side and the umpire is unmoved.
  • 13.1OUT! Delhi are cruising! Mishra tosses this one around off, Bhatia gets low and looks to clear long on with a slog sweep. However, he fails to connect it well. And Chris Morris at long on takes it comfortably. Amit is on a hat-trick because he dismissed Dhoni on the last ball of his last over.
  • 12.6SIX! And another! This time its a length ball and outside off, Chahar stays in his crease, clears his front leg and drives it over covers for a maximum. 94/6
  • 12.5SIX! Chahar has not given up as of yet. Pat Cummins bowls a short of a length delivery, around middle, Chahar gets over the ball and pulls it over mid-wicket for a biggie. Billings, there, attempted to take the catch but he was never going to make it.
  • 12.4On a length and outside off, Bhatia punches it on the up through covers for a single.
  • 12.3Back of a length delivery, around off, Chahar defends it with a straight face of the bat towards the on side and runs one.
  • 12.2Pat bowls the bumper, Chahar leaves it alone. A bouncer on the first ball for the batsman!
  • 12.1Length ball on the pads, Bhatia looks to flick but the ball brushes his pads and goes towards the leg side. Leg bye taken.
  • PAT CUMMINS comes into the attack.
  • Deepak Chahar comes on to bat.
  • 11.6OUT! Is that the game for Pune? Probably, yes. MS Dhoni departs and guess what the helicopter shot has led to his demise. Mishra bowls this full and around leg, Dhoni had to go for the big shot, and whips it hard. However, he finds Karun Nair in the deep who takes a well-judged catch. Dhoni cannot believe his luck. There is dead silence in the crowd. 79/6
  • 11.5Bowls the leg break and it spins too much, Bhatia cuts it away from his body through covers. Single taken.
  • 11.4Flatter and outside off, Bhatia pats it to point.
  • 11.3Looped up delivery, outside off, Dhoni charges but sees for a big shot the line and taps it to covers for a single.
  • 11.2Slides this one around leg, MS looks to nudge it but misses and gets rapped on the pads.
  • 11.1Tosses this one outside off, Bhatia drills it to long off for one.
  • AMIT MISHRA is introduced into the attack.
  • 10.6Tosses this on one on the sticks, Dhoni nudges it to mid-wicket. 76/5
  • 10.5Flatter and around off, bunts back to the bowler.
  • 10.4SIX! There he goes! Floated delivery, in the line of the sticks, MS Dhoni charges down the track and sends the ball over the bowler's head for a maximum. He changed the bat before this over started, did that work for him?
  • 10.3Looped up delivery, around leg, Bhatia makes room and punches it through covers for a run.
  • 10.2Quicker and around leg, Bhatia somehow knocks it back to the bowler.
  • 10.1Tossed up delivery, outside off, Dhoni pushes it through covers for an easy single.

  • 9.3Good length closer to off, tapped to point but cannot find the gap.
  • 9.2Short of a length outside off, Bhatia looks to play with an angled bat but misses.
  • 9.1Full and outside off, crisply driven through cover for a brace. Billings does well in the deep.
  • Corey Anderson comes on to bowl.
  • Time out has been taken.
  • 8.6Full and outside off, driven towards wide long off for a single. 58/5
  • 8.5Slider around middle, comes in with the angle, Bhatia gets a bottom edge on to the track.

  • 8.3Once again Dhoni gives the charge but it's fired in, he pats it back to the bowler.

  • Rajat Bhatia walks out to replace Ben Stokes.
  • 7.5OUT! STOKES DEPARTS! Good take by Pant and Pune have now lost half their side. Disastrous times for the hosts. Short of a length outside off, Stokes goes hard on the pull stroke and gets a faint bottom edge that is well caught by Pant behind the sticks.
  • 7.4Another length ball outside off, Stokes toe-ends a punchy drive towards short extra cover.
  • 7.3Length ball wider outside off, 147 kph, Stokes looks to slash it away but is beaten by sheer pace.
  • 7.2Shortish around middle, Dhoni rides the bounce and tucks it to square leg for a run.
  • 7.1Back of a length outside off, Stokes nudges it towards point for a quick single.
  • Pat Cummins is back.
  • 6.6Flatter outside off, sits back and punches it to cover. 52/4
  • 6.5Full and outside off, pushed gently towards cover.
  • Huge roar in the stands and that could be only for one reason. MS Dhoni strides out in the middle.
  • 6.4OUT! NADEEM STRIKES! It has to be the appeal that got Delhi this wicket. Flatter outside off, du Plessis goes for the premediated paddle but then sees that the line is wider for the stroke, tries to adjust somehow as the ball whizzes through to Pant who takes it well. Instant appeal for a catch and it's very intense as well. The umpire raises his finger and du Plessis has to go. Was there a feather on it? Replays show that there was. Good decision!
  • 6.3Flatter around leg stump, Stokes goes back and wallops it to deep backward square leg for a single.
  • 6.2Fired in around middle, Faf tucks it around the corner for a single.
  • 6.1Full and on middle, worked away on the leg side.
  • Shahbaz Nadeem comes on.
  • Pune have managed to score 50 runs in the first six overs but have lost three wickets in the process. Building a partnership is the need now.
  • 5.6RUN OUT MISSED! Back of a length outside off, punched off the back foot to cover for a single. Had the throw hit the stumps at the bowler's end, Faf was a goner! 50/3
  • Ben Stokes has arrived at the crease.
  • 5.5OUT! MORRIS STRIKES! Shortish around middle, Tripathi is hurried on to the pull and he gets a top edge that goes towards backward square leg. Nadeem from fine leg covers a lot of ground to take the skier with ease. The chase continues to get tougher for the hosts.

  • 5.3Full and on middle, worked to mid-wicket where Mishra does the fielding.
  • 5.2FOUR! STREAKY RUNS! The debutant won't mind it though. Shortish outside off, Tripathi flashes hard at it but gets a thickish edge that just goes wide of Pant to the fence. It was too fine and third man had no chance at all.
  • 5.2Slips it down the leg side, leans across to flick but misses. Wide called.
  • 5.1FOUR! FAB SHOT! Nice way to start his Indian T20 League career. Full and outside off, Tripathi unleashes a scorching drive through the covers to find the fence. Good timing on the stroke.
  • 4.6FOUR! SHOT! Class from du Plessis! Length ball outside off, he stands tall and punches it wide of the mid off fielder to find the fence. Beautifully timed shot. 38/2
  • Rahul Tripathi comes out in the middle on his debut.
  • 4.5OUT! ZAHEER HAS ANOTHER! It's a slower ball again that does the trick for the Delhi skipper. Agarwal is early into the lofted stroke and skews it high to cover where Morris takes an easy catch after backtracking a bit. Pune in early trouble in this big chase.
  • 4.4Back of a length outside off, nicely punched off the back foot to cover.
  • 4.3FAF SURVIVES! Fuller ball around middle, Agarwal wrists it towards mid on with excellent timing. Du Plessis wanted the single but was sent back. Luckily for him, Morris' throw at the bowler's end misses its mark as otherwise he was a goner.

  • 3.3Full and outside off, leans into it and blocks well.

  • 0.5Fuller outside off, bunted to mid off and Agarwal calls his skipper across for a sharp single.
