  • This ends the proceedings of this game. It was a very close one and for the second time this season, Delhi got the better of Gujarat. Tomorrow, we the table-toppers Mumbai host Punjab, who need to win to stay alive in this tournament. It promises to be a cracker. Join us tomorrow at 2000 IST (1430 GMT) to catch all the action from that match. Till then, take care! Cheers!
  • Man of the Match, Shreyas Iyer says that he was disappointed that he couldn't finish off the game. Adds that he wasn't thinking of the personal milestone and just wanted to take his team through. Mentions that he was just trying to time the ball, push it in the gaps and score odd boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking. Ends by saying that hope he wins more such awards in the coming games.
  • Zaheer Khan says that they had so many close games and it feels good to be on the right side of the result. Says that being out to the tournament, their energy was low. Feels that had they won the earlier close games, thing would have been different but they needed need to take such losses in their stride. Says that they would learn from their mistakes, try to win the remaining two games and take the confidence in the next season. Mentions that when their batting was clicking, their bowling wasn't and vice versa. Adds that Indian T20 League is a hectic tournament and momentum is very important in it.
  • Suresh Raina says it was a great game of cricket. Adds that they tried everything and praised Shreyas Iyer for his fine knock. Feels they conceded too many runs and failed to capitalize after getting so many wickets upfront. Believes his teammates gave it all and it's disappointing to end on the losing side. Feels the pitch played very well and they gave away too many loose balls which cost them the game.
  • Shreyas Iyer played a blinder. He smacked the insipid Gujarat bowling to all parts and took Delhi at the doorstep of victory. Pat Cummins gave him good support as well and should be praised for his sensible batting. With 9 needed to win off the last over, Basil Thampi cleaned up Iyer, thereby reigniting hope in the Gujarat camp. But Delhi got an unlikely hero in Amit Mishra, who hit back-to-back boundaries to earn a thrilling win.
  • Brilliant win for Delhi! It was an action-packed run chase with the pendulum swinging both ways. Karun Nair provided a quickfire start in spite of losing Sanju Samson cheaply. Some inspirational fielding by Gujarat saw Delhi lose three middle order wickets via run outs and that pushed them on the back foot. But, Shreyas Iyer at another end was determined to see his side through.
  • 19.4FOUR! Mishra has won it for Delhi! Thampi bowls it slower but fails to execute his yorker properly. Mishra gets a long way across and scoops it on the full fine down the leg side. Akshdeep Nath the substitute, tries to cut it off with a dive but fails to do so cleanly. The ball touches the fence and DELHI WIN BY 2 WICKETS!
  • 19.3FOUR! What a start by Mishra! He comes down the track a touch and flicks it on the full through mid-wicket. Doesn't time it well but finds the gap and it has enough legs on it to run to the fence. This game is turning out to be a super roller-coaster ride. 3 needed off 3 now!
  • Amit Mishra is the new batsman. 7 needed from 4 balls.
  • 19.2OUT! Drags it on! Another twist in the game! Thampi bowls a low full toss around off, Iyer looks to go hard at it. Gets an inside edge and the ball hits the middle stump. The whole of Gujarat camp is delighted. Shreyas Iyer walks back disappointed. He played such a superb knock but has failed to see his team through. Can Thampi win it for Gujarat from hereon?
  • 19.1Two Leg byes! Angling into the batsman, Iyer fails to flick it away. The ball goes off the pads fine down the leg side. The players appeal but it's turned down. The batsmen go for a couple. There's a throw at the striker's end but misses. Even Thampi, who is backing up is far away from the stumps. Had he hit or even had Thampi been close to the stumps, Iyer could have been in danger. 7 needed off 5 now.
  • 9 needed from 6 balls. Basil Thampi to bowl. Can he pull this off for his side?
  • 18.6Almost a yorker on middle, dug out back to the bowler. 187/7
  • 18.5FOUR! Another misfield! Soni is the culprit this time. Faulkner bowls a slower one. Shami looks to slog it but the bat turns in his hands and the ball slices towards short third man. Soni there, moves to his right but the ball turns away from him. He gets wrong-footed and fails to stop it even by stretching his left hand out. The ball runs to the fence behind. This is pressure.

The ball travels straight to Smith at long on, who doesn't make any mistake. That's a big wicket. Is there a twist in tale? The replay shows that after Faulkner bowled that ball, he slipped in his followthrough. He seems to have hurt himself there and so the physio is out to treat him.

  • Shreyas Iyer is the new man in. There's a short cover for him.
  • 1.5OUT! School boy error from Pant and he's run out. Plenty of action on this ball. Sangwan first gets a full length ball to nip back into the batsman from middle and off, Pant fails to work it around and is hit on the pads. The bowler is busy appealing as the ball rolls behind towards first slip. Rishabh walks out of the crease and then turns to tell his partner to stay at his end. But he didn't realize that he himself is out of his crease. The ever active Suresh Raina realizes that and is immediate to score a direct hit at the striker's end. They appeal, Raina is running in celebration and the third umpire is referred upstairs. The replays show that Pant is outside the crease and has to go. Lack of awareness from the young man. I'm reminded by one of my colleagues that during the U-19 World Cup final in 2016, Pant was stumped in a similar way. Then, he left alone a ball from Alzarri Joseph and was outside the crease when the keeper fired in the throw to find him short of the crease. Hmm...
  • Rishabh Pant seemed to be too lazy in grounding his bat and Raina was very alert to it. The home skipper is very confident. The appeal is taken upstairs.
  • 1.4FOUR! Packs a punch first up and feels the pain in his left arm. Sangwan serves a back of a length ball on off, Rishabh rocks back and smashes it over mid-wicket for a boundary. He immediately pulls out his bottom hand after executing the shot and is feeling some discomfort.
  • Rishabh Pant walks out in the middle. Remember, he was injured in the first innings. There are two slips in place for him.
  • 1.3OUT! Aahhh...commentator's curse, as they say. Samson drags it on! Sangwan digs in a short ball around off, Samson tries to pull across the line but gets a massive inside edge onto the stumps. The bowler jumps in joy, early success for Gujarat.
  • 1.2FOUR! Cracking reply by Samson! Stays put to a length ball and plays a scorching drive through covers for a boundary. Lovely timing and placement. Looking in fine form!
  • 1.1Appeal for a catch! Sangwan angles across a full length ball outside off, Samson tries to drive through the line without any footwork and seems to have missed it. Dinesh Karthik, however, catches the ball and straightaway jumps in appeal. The bowler also joins but the umpire remains unmoved. Day light between bat and ball, shows the replay.
  • Pradeep Sangwan to share the attack from the other end.
  • 0.6Gets it to move away from the batsman outside off, Nair pushes at it and misses. 7/0
  • 0.5On a good length around off, it's punched from the back foot to cover-point where the fielder misfields and they cross for a single.
  • 0.4Fuller and straighter, Nair clips it wide of mid on and gets off the mark with a single.
  • 0.3Samson plays it with an angled bat and guides it to third man. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 0.2Good length ball outside off, Samson middles his shot well again but finds the point fielder.
  • 0.1FOUR! What a sweet beginning! Kulkarni serves a back of a length ball around off, Samson stays on top of the bounce and punches it nicely through the gap at cover-point for a boundary.
  • Back for the chase. Karun Nair and Sanju Samson are the Delhi openers. Dhawal Kulkarni to begin proceedings with the ball. A slip in place. Here we go...
