  • So that's it from us for the night. Bangladesh have stunned one and all by booking a place in the final with India. They have not played their best cricket but are still here. Tonight, they were spectacular but they need to be more than that when they take on the number 2 ODI team on Friday. That match will take place in Dubai on September 28, 2018 at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Hopefully, it is a cracker. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
  • MUSHFIQUR RAHIM IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. The wicket-keeper batsmen tates that Bangladesh were prepared to lose a couple of early wickets against a quality bowling attack o Pakistan but he and Mithun believed that once the new-ball passage was through, they can get runs in the middle overs. Credits his constant practice for playing strokes consistently and the almighty for helping him keep calm in tough situations.
  • Victorious Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza, says that tonight they changed the bowling line-up a bit. Normally, he starts but he let Mustafizur take the new ball. Does not quite specify the reason but credits the entire bowling and fielding units. Hopes that his team produces this same performance on Friday in the final. On his flying catch to dismiss Malik, the modest skipper puts it down to luck and states that had he dropped that, Malik would have taken Pakistan home. On their big match against India, Mashrafe states that India are the number 1 team in the world while his own team would be without Tamim or Shakib. But still, they need to give their best and try and win the trophy.
  • Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed, admits that he is not feeling happy at all. But says that if you do not play well, then you cannot win and takes the blame on himself for not leading from the front. Stressing on the weak aspects, he first points out to fielding, then bowling in the middle overs, batting consistently and eventually, spin bowling. On Fakhar Zaman's poor form, he agrees that the opener has been giving them good starts while Shadab and Hasan have been doing well in the middle overs but their batting collapses have hurt them the most. Is proud of the newbie Shaheen Afridi and reckons that it is a good prospect.
  • Not too long ago, Bangladesh fans were cursing their players after their big loss to India. But they have overcome all those comments and have stormed into the final. The bowling stood up once again, with the young Mustafizur falling just one short of a fifer. But the most underestimated bowlers of the evening - Mehidy Hasan, Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar - well, they were the main ones responsible for keeping the lid on the proceedings. Their collective figures were 25-1-85-4 with 82 dot balls. Excellent team performance. Please stay tuned for the presentation to see who gets the Man Of The Match award.
  • Credit has to be given to Pakistan though. They looked down and out at 94/5 but Imam and Asif staged another recovery. They nearly got the batting side on a path which could have led to victory. However, with 75 needed from 65 balls, Mehidy and Mahmudullah struck in successive overs to send both the set batsmen back and that sealed the chase.
  • Having kept Bangladesh to 239, the momentum was firmly with Pakistan. However, just like Bangladesh, they were reduced to 3 down in no time. Shoaib Malik and Imam-ul-Haq then tried to revive the innings but a Mashrafe special sent Malik back in the hut.
  • Comfortable win for Bangladesh. Their fourth in a row in ODIs over Pakistan. Who would have thought that? Right from the start of the tournament, the predictions have been an India-Pakistan final. Now, that script has changed.
  • 49.6A FORWARD DEFENSE to end the game. Full and outside off, Afridi pushes it towards cover. The non-striker wants a single and the throw comes in at his end but misses the stumps. Does not matter. BANGLADESH WIN BY 37 RUNS AND ARE IN THE FINAL!!!
  • 49.5The batsman shows the full face of the bat and defends the ball off the back foot.
  • 49.4Another slower ball. SA looks to push it through the off side but is beaten once more.
  • 49.3Full and outside off, driven past the bowler towards mid off.
  • 49.2The off cutter, outside off, Shaheen looks to guide it to third man but is beaten by the slowness of the delivery.
  • 49.1A short ball outside off, Afridi swivels and pulls it cleanly - but straight to deep mid-wicket. They do not run.
  • Final over. Mustafizur to bowl. A fifer?
  • 48.6Full and outside off, driven uppishly towards mid off. 202/9
  • 48.5Full and outside off, driven towards mid off for a run.
  • 48.4The batsman goes for the pull but misses it completely.
  • 48.3A short ball on middle, Afridi swings but the ball goes off the bottom edge towards short third man.
  • 48.2A length ball outside off, Junaid takes his eyes off the ball and it goes off the gloves, through the vacant slip cordon to third man. A run taken.
  • 48.1Played to the point region by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 47.6A fuller length outside off, Junaid backs away and drives it straight to cover. 199/9
  • 47.5Another length ball outside off, JK swings again but misses once more.

  • 47.3The batsman guides it to third man. They pick up a single.
  • 47.2Another short ball, this time Afridi looks to pull but misses.
  • 47.1A short ball outside off, Afridi sways away.
  • Back to Mustafizur. Can he pick up a fifer?
  • 46.6Full and outside off, Khan hits this down the ground. Initially, he does not run, because he thinks mid off will stop it. But then, the ball goes past the fielder. Now, Junaid does not run, because he thinks he cannot get more than a single. Then, he realizes that probably he can get two. However, by that time, the ball is stopped and Afridi sends him back. So, a dot ball in the end. 198/9
  • 46.5Full on middle, heaved towards long on for a run.
  • 46.4Full and outside off, hit hard to mid off for a quick single. Junaid starts to run but then forgets that he has to drag his bat in. Mashrafe Mortaza's throw misses the stumps at the bowler's end. Direct hit could have been interesting.
  • 46.3Full and outside off, blasted through the covers for a single.
  • 46.2Backs away, Rubel bowls a pinpoint yorker on middle, Shaheen swings hard again but gets a bottom edge back to the bowler.
  • 46.1SIX! HUMONGOUS! This kid can bat. A length ball outside off, Afridi swings it massively over mid-wicket! One of my colleagues, Mr. Polite, reckons that reminded him of the sixes Sourav Ganguly used to hit. Good memory.
  • 45.6EDGED, PUT DOWN! Mustafizur is robbed of a fifer. But Liton cannot be blamed for this. A length ball, outside off, moving away, Afridi pushes at it and gets a healthy outside edge. Das dives full length to his left but the ball hits the webbing of his left glove and pops out. 189/9
  • 45.5Full and outside off, Khan pushes at it and gets a thick outside edge behind point. A single taken.
  • 45.4HUGE APPEAL FOR CAUGHT BEHIND! IS THE MATCH OVER? Nope. A length ball around off, angling away, Junaid looks to defend but is beaten. Liton Das collects and immediately starts jumping in an appeal but the umpire is unmoved. Snickometer detects nothing.
  • 45.3A length ball outside off, Junaid swings but misses.
  • 45.2The yorker, swinging in, around leg, Afridi somehow gets his bat to sneak the ball towards square leg. Mustafizur starts to appeal but then bails out. A single taken.
  • Junaid Khan is the last man in to complete the final rites.
  • 45.1OUT! That is a cracking shot but the boundary is very large and the man pouches it in the deep. Pakistan are 9 down. A short ball, around middle, Nawaz gets hold of it and latches onto the pull. The sound made of the bat connecting with the ball is superb but as we have seen in this tournament, the boundaries are way too large. Nawaz gets the height but not the distance. Substitute Nazmul Hossain Shanto settles under it calmly.
  • 44.6Outside off, Nawaz swings hard but gets a thick inside edge which just goes past the stumps. A quick single taken. 186/8
  • 44.5Full and around off, Afridi works it through mid-wicket for a run.
  • 44.4Played to the mid-wicket region by the batsman. They pick up a single.

  • Shaheen Shah Afridi walks in at number 10, replacing Hasan.
  • 43.5OUT! In the air, in the air, in the air and Bangladesh get one step closer to the final! A short ball on middle, Hasan backs away once again and attempts the pull. But he is done in by the cutter. He is a master of these. All he gets is a top edge because he is months early into the shot. Mashrafe Mortaza runs to his left from mid on and takes it easily.
  • 43.4The batsman defends it from within the crease.
  • 43.3Outside off, played towards point. Hasan wants a single but is sent back.
  • 43.2FOUR! HAMMERED! A length ball outside off, Hasan backs away and slaps it over mid off for a boundary! 59 needed from 40 balls now.

  • 42.3Another dot. The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball.
  • 42.2Outside off, punched back to the bowler.

  • 41.2The batsman has punched the ball off the back foot. They pick up a single.
  • 41.1Full and outside off, blocked towards cover.
  • 40.6Full and outside off, Hasan is squared up as he looks to defend. The ball runs off the outside edge towards third man and a couple if taken. 4 runs and a wicket from that over, Mahmudullah's figures read 9-0-35-1. 169/7
  • Hasan Ali trudges in at number 9, replacing Imam.
  • 40.5OUT! Another stumping and this time it is Imam! This should be game over for Pakistan now. Beautiful bowling by Mahmudullah who is pumped up. He tosses this one outside off and Imam immediately jumps out, aiming to go inside out. However, he is done in by the flight and misses his shot. But Liton doesn't. He is as cool as a cucumber and takes off the bails in a flash. Imam tries to get back but he is miles out of the crease. Liton throws the ball up in the air in celebration. The batting side needs 73 from 55 balls with 3 wickets in hand.
  • 40.4The batsman has played it towards mid-wicket. Spirited effort by the fielder to save runs for his team.
  • 40.3Comes down the track and drives it towards cover.
  • 40.2Helps it through square leg for a quick run.
  • 40.1Full and outside off, driven towards cover for a single.
  • Final Powerplay of the Super Four. 5 fielders allowed outside the 30-yard circle. 75 needed from 60 balls with 4 wickets in hand. Mahmudullah is back on. 8-0-31-0 so far.
  • 39.6Full and outside off, watchfully blocked out. 165/6
  • 39.5The arm ball, on middle and leg, pushed back to the bowler.
  • 39.4Outside off, pushed towards short extra cover.
  • 39.3Full and around off, watchfully defended.
  • Mohammad Nawaz is in next.
  • 39.2OUT! Stumped! Very good keeping. Makes up for his dropped catch by this sharp take. Off spinner lands on middle. It spins a tad as Ali looks to drive this one coming forward. Misses it completely, Liton collects the ball and takes off the bails in a flash. They check it up for confirmation and Ali is well short. The 71-run stand is finally broken. The end is neigh for Pakistan.
  • Stumped or bowled? Liton Das is not showing his confidence but Asif is walking... referred upstairs.
  • 39.1That kept low. Full and in line of the stumps, Ali does well to get bat to ball.
  • 38.6Direct hit but Ali is well in. Good backing up for the fielding side. Full and on off, Ali hits it towards mid on and sets off for the run. 165/5

  • Mehidy Hasan to roll his arm.
  • 36.6The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. One run added to the total. 154/5
  • 36.5No damage done. Good ball. Full and outside off, Imam looks to drive it with force but cannot time it well. Goes straight to the man at mid off.
  • An explanation of why that was a no ball. Before the ball was bowled, third man, fine leg, cover, mid on and mid-wicket were inside the circle. But just at the last moment, Mortaza sent third man back. As per the rules, you need to have 5 players inside the 30-yard circle till the 40th over. FREE HIT COMING UP NOW.

  • 35.4Outside off again, played past point for one.

  • 30.650 for Imam-ul-Haq! He has been a lone warrior in this innings and will need good support from the other end if Pakistan want to win this one. Milks this through mid on to get to the landmark. 115/5

A short ball, down the leg side, Shadab cannot control his instincts to pull. He goes for the shot but is cramped for room. The ball takes the glove and goes to the keeper who straightaway runs forward in celebration. Snickometer educates us that it is not glove, but a top edge. 146 more needed from 149 balls. • 20.5Outside off, played straight to point.

  • 20.2Around off, on a length, watchfully defended towards mid off.
  • Shadab Khan is the new man in. Surprise to many as he usually comes lower down the order.
  • 20.1OUT! Pick that out! What a screamer. And guess what? Shoaib Malik is out of here. Fuller ball on the legs of Malik. It stops and makes Malik flick earlier that he should have. The ball flies towards short mid-wicket where Mortaza dives full length to his left and grasps it with both hands. What a catch. We have already seen some good catches in this innings and we can add another one to this list. Bangladesh now have the upper hand as Pakistan need 155 more runs to win. A tinge of bad news with the good for the fielding side as their skipper looks to have injured himself and walks off the field.

  • Drinks break. So far so good from Pakistan. They need to do what Rahim and Mithun did for Bangladesh. Take the game deep without losing too many wickets and see how it goes. Malik's wicket will be the key for Bangladesh. Not to forget Bangladesh will miss the services of Shakib Al Hasan who is very good in the middle overs. Who will fill in for his 10 overs?

  • 12.3Back of a length ball outside off, punched off the back foot to covers.

  • 12.1Good length ball outside off, played to the point region. Dot ball.
  • 11.6Outside off, Imam drives it for the cover fielder to collect. Another good over comes to an end. Just 2 from it. 40/3

  • 8.3Nicely played. The ball is angling into the southpaw but Imam plays it down late, past that wide first slip fielder, towards third man. A run taken.
  • 8.2Full and just around off, watchfully defended on the walk towards mid on.
  • 8.1Full and down the leg side, flicked towards fine leg for a single.
  • 7.6Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single. 34/3
  • 7.5Full and outside off, Shoaib times his square drive crisply again but it is straight to the fielder. There is a direct hit at the bowler's end but Imam is in while there is no chance of an overthrow.
  • 7.4FOUR! Great shot again! After going for a boundary on the previous ball, the Fizz drops it a touch short. Malik is more than happy to see that length. He gets on top of the bounce with a gentle hop and punches it through the covers. That was more of a forehand winner in Tennis. Consecutive boundaries. 207 more needed from 254 balls. Malik moves to 12 from 15 balls.
  • 7.3FOUR! MAGNIFICENT! Great balance. And the timing is exquisite was well. Full and outside off, Malik comes forward, meets the ball on the half volley and drives it with the full face of the bat. Great elbow position too. The ball goes past the bowler and mid off. No chance for either. The stand moves to 11 from 24 balls.
  • 7.2Good length, just short of full, the line is just around off and Shoaib comes forward to defend.
  • 7.1Full and outside off, driven straight to cover.
  • 6.6Full and outside off, this time Imam meets it with a perfect off drive. 25/3
  • 6.5THAT STAYED LOW! This will now play in the minds of the batsmen. Mashrafe lands this somewhere around the good length, outside off and Imam hops back to defend. But then, the ball scoots low and the batsman is lucky that the bat comes down in time to meet the ball.
  • 6.4Similar shot, but this time it is in the gap. A single behind point.
  • 6.3Around off, pushed to the off side.
  • 6.2Down the leg side, Malik helps it through the leg side for a couple.
  • 6.1LBW shout, but not out. Mashrafe does not review. Imam walks across his sticks and the Bangladesh captain bowls it straight. The angle perhaps is taking the ball down the leg side as Mortaza is bowling from around the wicket. Imam misses his flick and is hit on the pads. There is an LBW appeal but it dies down pretty quickly. Hawk Eye shows it to be MISSING LEG. Meanwhile, a leg bye has been stolen. PAKISTAN FINALLY GET THEIR SCOREBOARD MOVING AFTER 12 DOTS ON THE TROT.
  • 5.6The batsman defends it from within the crease. CONSECUTIVE MAIDENS FOR BANGLADESH!!! 21/3

  • 3.6WIDE. Down the leg side, flick shot missed.
  • 3.5RUN OUT, RUN OUT, RUN OUT, BUT MISSED! Oh dear... Mahmudullah is the fielder. Pakistan would have been 4 down in the 4th over. A length ball outside off, Malik pushes this wide of mid off and keeps on running. But Imam is in no mood to respond. He is busy watching Mahmudullah run across to his left. All of a sudden, both batsmen are close to shaking hands with one another and Rahim screams to his brother-in-law to throw the ball but Mahmudullah takes his eyes off the ball at a crucial moment and fumbles. The ball rolls behind and Imam now runs across to the other end. What a lucky break.
  • 3.4Outside off, on a length, played towards point.
  • Shoaib Malik walks in at number 5, replacing his skipper.
  • 3.3OUT! Edged and a fantastic catch has been taken! This game is alive and kicking. If Bangladesh were 12/3, Pakistan are 18/3. Will we see a revival as we saw in the first innings or are Bangladesh smelling victory already? Let us not talk about the future for now. Let us be in the present. This moment belongs to that man - who scored a magnificent 99 with the bat, was tired but still helped Bangladesh recover. This wicket belongs to him. Full and outside off, angling away, Sarfraz chases it away from his body and does not bother to move his feet much. A poor shot and he pays the price. The edge flies behind but so does Mushfiqur Rahim. He goes to his right and takes it brilliantly. The Pakistan captain has come and now the Pakistan captain has gone. Is the Asia Cup gone too?
  • 3.2FOUR! Wrong line. Down the leg side, Sarfraz tickles it fine, towards the fence behind. There seems to be a fielder but he is very square.
  • 3.1On middle and leg, flicked through square leg for a single.
  • 2.6Around off, Sarfraz looks to defend from the crease but suddenly the ball shoots up and hits the splice of the bat. Lands safely on the leg side. 13/2
  • 2.5Full and on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.
  • 2.4Excellent fielding! They are on fire in the field and have their tails up. Full and outside off, Imam drives it through the covers and the ball races away but Liton Das at short extra dives full length to his left to stop that. Gets a bad bounce but he manages to collect, get up and then fire a throw to the keeper.
  • 2.3Quicker one, just outside off, watchfully defended towards cover.
  • 2.2Outside off, eased through cover-point for a quick single.
  • 2.1Full and around off, worked straight to short mid-wicket.
  • 1.6Around off and outside, watchfully defended. 8 runs and a wicket from that Fizz over. 11/2
  • 1.5A length ball on middle and leg, tucked through square leg for a couple. Both the batsmen are off the mark now.
  • 1.4Full again, flicked behind square on the leg side for a single.
  • 1.3FOUR! LOVELY! The captain is off the mark in grand fashion. A bit of a half volley, outside off, Sarfraz comes forward and drives it through the covers. No stopping that.
  • 1.3WIDE. Plenty of swing for the Fizz. He lands this on a length but swings it down the leg side. Sarfraz looks to flick but misses. Good keeping by Rahim diving to his left.
  • The captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, walks in at number 4, replacing Babar.
  • 1.2OUT! LBW! Second wicket down for Pakistan and the Bangladesh fans are on fire!!! Terrific bowling. Mustafizur lands this on a length, around the line of the stumps, one would suppose. Babar is back in his crease to try and defend that but the ball skids off the surface and pings him on the back pad. Mustafizur, Mushfiqur and perhaps the whole of Bangladesh appeal. The umpire thinks for a while and then raises his finger! Babar walks over to Imam, has a bit of a chat but then, is on his way. No review taken. Hawk Eye shows that to be pitching in line and going on to clip the off stump. Umpire's call would have been the verdict if the review had been taken. Boy oh boy, the Men In Green are on top. Which one? You definitely know...
  • 1.1A length ball outside off, Azam looks to cut but gets a bottom edge to the off side.
  • Mustafizur Rahman to bowl with the second new ball.
  • 0.6Azam eases this down to long on and takes a run. Ends a successful over for Bangladesh. 3/1
  • Babar Azam is the new man in.
  • 0.5OUT! In the air... taken! What a catch! That was travelling and Rubel has plucked that out of thin air. Take a bow! Bangladesh are up and running as they have got rid of the dangerous Zaman in the first over itself. Once again he falls prey to a spinner. He uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball. Hits it hard but uppishly towards mid on. He must have thought boundary as soon as he hit it, but it wasn't to be. Hossain there, times his leap to perfection and hangs onto it. Falls onto the ground after taking it. Fakhar Zaman walks back in disbelief and once again he does not trouble the scorers a lot.
  • 0.4The arm ball on middle, Imam tries to defend but the ball goes off the inner half towards square leg for a run. He too is off the mark.
  • 0.3The pitch just might have quickened up under lights as once again it easily comes onto the bat. FZ punches it down to long off and Pakistan are off the mark.
  • 0.2Slower through the air this time, once again it skids on, good signs for the batsman. Zaman lunges and keeps it out.
  • 0.1Starts off with a flatter delivery on off, it skids through after pitching. Zaman cuts it to point.
  • We are back for the chase! The openers, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq make their way out to the middle. The former will be on strike and he will be facing a spinner first up. Mehidy Hasan has the first new ball in his hand. Here we go...
